I was walking around Grenoble not knowing where to have something to eat. Wanted to avoid getting stuck in a snack- and junkfood routine because my stay in Grenoble was short. Saw that this restaurant was busy with a mix people whom were having a late brunch on Saturday, 14:30. No tourists it seemed, a couple of students, so, I thought I'd pop in. A warm welcome beyond the entrance and a clear, relatively short menu. A good sign. Fresh loafs of bread behind the counter along the wall, being cut into slices right before my eyes. Another good sign. Noticing that most people were enjoying a huge brunch, the wall chalk presented everything it entailed. For brunch one gets a fresh salad with smoked salmon, sliced french 'saucisson sec', Emmentaler cheese, mozzarella and tomato, with some dressing if so inclined, brie. Next to this one receives a semi breakfast plate filled with a big croissant (you choose what type), the lightest fresh yoghurt in a tiny glass vase seal using foil as if the milkman just past by, muesli with dried banana and nuts, butter and a soft boiled egg with long strips of bread to dip into the egg. A basket of different types of bread was provided to top it all off, including breakfast spreads like apricot jam, chocolate pasta, etc. Lastly to assist you in this long lunch, a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice, a glass of spring water from the mountains, and a cup of coffee. This meal is so rich and sizable that it'll get you up to Fort de la Bastille and back home again. And, you'll still not need a dinner afterwards... The service is experienced, friendly, and also attentive. Very quick to serve after ordering. And can understand English well enough to help with questions. Will come back again if...
Read moreGood Food, Poor Pastries, Terrible Service. Went for a late brunch at 2pm, which they were no longer serving (fine), had an amazing salad and croissant. Waiter was pleasant and helpful. The croissant was an offense to France and was worse than anything I could find at a chain hotel in northern England. I asked for jam as there were literal trays of jam sitting on the table directly next to me--a different server said jam was only for brunch (which was no longer being served at 2pm) and I asked again since I was happy to pay for one of the dozens of jams at my right hand and again was told this was not possible as the remaining jams were for the following Sunday brunch. What ridiculous customer unfriendly service and I question the hygienics of leaving trays of jam on a table next to customers eating their jam-free meals. Utterly poor service standards, terrible pastry, avoid if you prefer these things to be good...in a...
Read moreFirst, we called them several times to make a reservation and they didn't answer. Second, we went to the restaurant and after seating us they took 30 minutes to just come and take be order. It was 12.45pm, brunch starts from 11h till 15h. We ordered the brunch formula, but the waitress explained that they were out of all items on the formula. Which was weird because it was still 12.45. We ordered other food and it took them 50 minutes to get our orders because they ran out of clean plates according to them. They misunderstood a sentence my friend said and they ordered another plate for him eventhough he never asked for it. At the end, the food was around 5/10. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't very good. Definitely not worth the wait and price. The waitresses were nice during the...
