Les Embruns — Restaurant in La Rochelle

Whilst the restaurant looked lovely from the outside we didn’t end up eating here as we found the male waiter to be very rude and unwelcoming. Whilst I speak some French the menu was written in quite poor handwriting on a board making it difficult to read so I politely asked the waiter if they had an English menu and he responded very negatively to this request and then proceeded to rush through an explanation of the menu which consisted mainly of “this is fish” “this is beef” and when I asked about the sides he simply said “they all come with vegetables”. One hour to get our food. The menu was unreadable (black board style on the table ) the only waiter rushed us to order. The answer was rude when asking for how long more we would have to wait. Despite the old school plating the food was nice, Excellent local ingredients but have to work in delivering at temperature. There’s not proper vegetarian options. When you are done eating your weight in raw oysters, poached langoustines and sea snails...dine at this lovely restaurant where the freshest seafood meets sophisticated, yet cosy French cuisine influenced by Asian flavours...e.g. a curry powder and cumin seed pastry near that holds a perfectly poached egg covered in smoked trout.... Or Pollock with a vadouvan butter and shitake mushrooms.
