Pot d'Etain — Restaurant in La Rochelle

A superb place for lunch or dinner, coffee or a glass of wine. Unfortunately not open in the mornings (but I wish it was!) The crêpes are incredible, with an amazing choice of fillings, coffee is delicious and hot, the staff are fabulous - so friendly, helpful and fun! The ambiance and the decor is full of character and in very good taste. The building is beautiful, with carved oak bar, an old staircase and arched windows. The menu is simple but the food is cooked, presented and served beautifully - and is all delicious! Even the music that is played occasionally is in great taste, and is in happy harmony with everything else. It's my favourite place to go in the whole island and I will miss it when I leave to go back to England. I've been back a few more times since writing this review. I've tried other items on the menu and everything has been absolutely delicious! Omelettes are superb, the fish dish, the aperitifs, fabulous ice cream and sorbet, chocolate pots. I don’t know about the food but the amount of noise that restaurant does is unbelievable. They cheat chatting till midnight and then taking their furniture in till 1am. It is impossible to sleep for people who live nearby until they are done chatting / singing / making all possible noise like crashing glass bottles and go home. The restaurant that supposed to be open till 10am is torturing neighbours airy it’s noise till 1am. For god sake close the outside space at 10pm in respect to the neighbours and keep your heists inside for your post 10pm food. And don’t shout in the middle of the street!!! You are not on the...
