I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff’s behavior towards me was blatantly discriminatory, and I felt unwelcome from the moment I arrived. No customer should be treated differently based on their race or ethnicity, yet that is exactly what happened here. This is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. I will never return, and I hope others think twice before supporting a place that allows such treatment.

I want to be clear: I never expected an apology from you. My only intention was to share the facts so others can make their own judgment. If you truly believe your team acted appropriately, let me share a few key moments from yesterday:

We had 5 adults and 2 children, one of them only 6 years old. You seated us at a table for 6 which I think it was totally not a problem. But when we requested one more extra seat for the kid, the staff simply told us 〃they don’t speak English.” and ignoring our request. You guys can pretend that you don't understand English. But do you believe that you don't understand this kind of request or just an excuse.

I ordered still water, but was given sparkling water instead. When I pointed this out, the staff took the bottle away with visible irritation, muttering at the bar. Her expression made it clear she was unhappy about my request. And most interesting thing is if she don't speak English like what she told me. How did she understand I am asking for still water instead of sparking water.

I addressed this attitude with the manager. Without investigating the situation, he simply pointed to the door, implying we should leave.

While your staff did not verbally insult us, their behavior and attitude were unpleasant to the point of being offensive.

You say you welcome guests from all over the world. If that is true, then at the very least, basic English for essential restaurant communication should be in place. I am not asking for fluent English — just the ability to handle simple dining-related words and requests.

I believe this is a reasonable expectation for any restaurant claiming to serve an...

The whole experience was BAD because of the service. How can you serve dishes in a different order. We had a table of 5 people. They brought 2 dishes to 2 men and the rest of us (3 women) were waiting for our dishes for 10 minutes!!!

The food was ok. Some appetizers (octopus and ceviche) were great but the mains had the room for improvement. The WORST cuttlefish in my life. It was so hard and I returned the whole dish to the kitchen. BUT THEIR ATTITUDE MADE THE SITUATION EVEN WORSE. They said that the dish is supposed to be like that and will still add to the bill. They didn’t purpose any alternatives and they said that they can bring back my returned dish IF I WANT TO EAT IT AGAIN.

The bill had mistakes, added extra!!! especially after the previous situation, it’s funny and sad. CHECK YOUR BILL

They didn’t even try to improve our impression about the restaurant, didn’t propose a compliment, were not really nice.

There were no local food. no oysters, no local fish.

It shows that the restaurant does not care about the clients at all! As we are all tourists, we come and go back. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDING TO NO ONE and unfortunately even saying to all our friends to...

Le Bel Ami proposes something unique in Etretat, a town primarily filled with traditional brasseries. You are invited to choose your own wine in the adjoining cave- a touch that I really liked! The menu proposes franco-Lebanese dishes and I highly recommend the hummus to share as a starter. I should add here that a portion of the cost of the starter and of the bottle of wine is donated to a charity in Lebanon - a touch that I really liked. Each of the dishes we had was incredibly well thought out and tasted brilliant. I’ve added a picture of the fraisier, which was just divine. Our waiter, Lou, was good fun and made the entire experience all the more enjoyable! Le Bel Ami is 10/10 across the board - excellent cuisine, lovely ambiance and staff, and a sense of morality that topped everything off for us. Small note - we tried to reserve a table online and it seemed the restaurant was booked out. When we walked past, there was actually plenty of space. So I would recommend calling or trying your luck!

Amazing food, very fresh and comfy. The environement is also very nice and fair prices for the place. Unfortunatelly the service is very poor. The waiter that served us was very unfriendly (even with that fake smile) and it looks like she was “not seeing” us when we needed smth in purpose. There was a big line outside but it was clearly that it was a problem of the bad managing between serving, cleaning the table and organizing the clients in the tables. In the end while I went to the bathroom after paying she asked my friends to leave fast cause people were waiting outside. We waited a long time outside and she didn’t treat the others like that, maybe because they were French. A pity, the service is such an important point to make people want to go back. Feeling of not being welcome mixed with suffering prejudice doesn’t make me want to come back at all.

Every vacation we spend the last night in a restaurant, that's out of the ordinary. After a quick Google search Bel Ami came up. We thought, the reviews sounded promising and were not disappointed! Good and attentive service (Victor, Peter says hi :)), smaller but nice variety on the menu, gourmet taste (we had spare ribs and quesadilla as a main meal). The wait before and between the courses wasn't long. Portions were not huge, but they serve lovely bread with it and we would always choose quality over quantity. Important to mention: we (as Germans) did NOT get 'the german treatment' at all (there was a review, that left us concerned) . Maybe grumpy, unpolite guests got the treatment they were asking for. It was a great last dinner after a week in Étretat. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work.
