Estaminet La cour de la ch'tite brigitte — Restaurant in Lille

The staff were very friendly, but a little careless. Our starters and main courses were brought out at the same time, and when we expressed our surprise, the waiter took the mains back to the kitchen, which made us wonder what happened to them afterwards. The starters were tasty but quite simple. I felt they could have been a bit more refined, both in flavor and in presentation. My main course, horse steak, was lukewarm and a bit tough, though it had a nice flavor. My wife’s dish, fish waterzooi, could have been prepared with a bit more attention. Most of the vegetables seemed to come from pre-cut mixes, mainly small carrot pieces, and I missed some variety and fresh herbs like chervil and parsley. There was a large piece of cod in the dish, but it was slightly overcooked, perhaps because the meal had been reheated after being sent back.

I was in Lille for a short visit and was told to try the local dish "carbonnade flamande", so I picked this place to give it a try 🥩 I cam on a weekday in the afternoon, so it wasn't crowded and I could enter without a reservation. However, this place gets busy quickly, so it's safer if you reserve :) The dish was well-prepared and tasted neat, as if home-made. The price is a bit high considering the portion. However, fried potatoes are served on the side. It would've been more balanced if perhaps some more salad and some break would be served with the meal 🍽️ The staff is friendly, nice, and efficient. The waiting time is very reasonable and short considering the quality of the food ⏳ The atmosphere is quite interesting, the lighting is cosy and warm yellow, and the space is big. Sometimes loud folk music plays and affects the ability to converse with others on the table, so I picked a corner where it was easier to listen to...

My friend and I visited on a Friday night and were surprised and pleased when we were quickly seated without a reservation. Unfortunately we were never served. After placing our order (in French) we waited about 40 minutes. The server eventually came to check on us, telling us there was some sort of problem with the oven but they were working on our food. Ten or fifteen more minutes passed and it was clear the restaurant was closing soon. Even the music turned off and tables began to empty. Our waitress never came back to check on us but we spoke to another waitress, told her how long we’d been waiting (which seemed to shock her), cancelled our order and left. I don’t believe we would have ever gotten our food but even if we had, there wouldn’t have been enough time to eat. Terrible service. Inattentive staff. We watched as others around us happily ate.
