I swear to you that this is the restaurant I have been looking for since I moved to Lille 18 months ago.--good, reasonably/priced classic French brasserie food! Last week I found it, Le Verlaine. I tried two days to have lunch there, but it's impossible without a reservation. It is packed every day--all locals, no tourists. So I made one for today. The lunch was wonderful. I had one of the daily specials, eminence de porc. Delicious! I don't usually eat cabbage, but I ate everything and wiped my plate with my bread. It's open until 1 AM. Classic jazz on the speakers. Read moreWe went to the restaurant and was told there there are only two dishes available, but when we made the payment after the meal we clearly see other main dishes are being served to other tables. Also, I clearly said I want food to be well done and thoroughly cooked because I am pregnant, yet, the steak comes with pink blood in it. Two dishes cost 39 euros, surely I can get much better quality food elsewhere with this price. Not a good experience...
