Honestly, the food was really good, no complaints on that. However, our plates were dirty, they seemed barely washed and greasy, we could see rests of what the person before us ate. I had a pasta with cream and bacon and I found carrots on the side of my plate and my partners plate was smudged with brown sauce that made them lose their appetite. That's not even mentioning how disgusting the floor looked... Crumbs and stains everywhere, literal used napkins below our feet... And the service was subpar. The servers were fast, I'll give them that, but it seems they didn't get proper training. One of them was really rude to my partner for no reason. We were deep in conversation and someone needed to pass by, the server snarkily mentioned that the person had been trying to pass for 3 minutes? Which 1. Literally wasn't true. And 2. My partner does not have eyes on their back??? This servers rude, unnecessary and unprofessional behaviour ruined our meal. Paul has good food but this particular branch has the most incompetent service I've ever seen. 20 minutes and 6 reminders later, I got my glass of water. For the sandwiches, the server didn't know what sandwiches they had. Although I spoke French, she had no idea what I could order and the sandwiches are not on the menu. I had to walk to the stall and find out what sandwiches were for sale and had to wait another eternity for her to notice our table and finally take my order. We just arrived in Lille to catch a train & sought a coffee. Chloe from Paul, sat us down, took our order & very pleasantly tolerated our attempts to ask for a coffee & a french cake from the display. The coffee was nice, the cake scrumdiddlyumpcious. Chloe asked us where we were from (that's how poor my French was) & when we said Australia we got a great chat going about dangerous animals & spiders.
