I read about how in 1544 sparkling wine was already produced in this area, tried it during lunch and loved it immensely. Visited this wine cave that house all the different wines produced in Limoux to buy a few bottles. The cave also conducts a tour on the history of the local wine. The staff was very kind and friendly, he explained the wine in great detail in English, made me appreciate it ever more. A visit to Limoux wouldn’t be complete without a tour, some tasting and buying a few bottles of their wine produced from the unique Mauzac grapes.

Découverte de la cave coopérative suite à une dégustation lors d'un marché gourmand sur La Bastide sur l'Hers (merci Martin du tube à vin). Il y a de bonnes choses à découvrir et déguster, pourquoi pas à partager ?... J'ai craqué pour la butinière (blanc et rouge)... Accueil sympathique et accompagnement sur les différents produits proposés que l'on peut découvrir et goûter. Ne pas hésiter à y passer, on y trouve quelques étiquettes distribuées chez les cavistes et pas seulement du coin...

If you pass by Limoux you have to stop by here and buy some of the good wines from the local producers. The shop have a good atmosphere with a cave feeling and the workers are very friendly and helpful. They have several types of wine and one of my favorite, that I always bring back home to Sweden is the La Butinière Chardonnay and...
