This is the first review I have ever written, simply because I have never before encountered such rudeness. We originally booked for 7:30 PM, but called ahead to explain that something had come up and asked to move the reservation to the next day at 8:00 PM. The man I spoke to was extremely curt, cutting me off mid-sentence and ending the call abruptly once he understood we were changing the booking.
When we arrived the next day, the same man, who admitted he had been the one on the phone, immediately began treating us poorly. As soon as he identified our reservation, he aggressively claimed we were late, insisting we had booked for 7:30 PM. I explained this was impossible due to a prior commitment and suggested there must have been a misunderstanding, but he refused to listen, remaining dismissive and confrontational.
He eventually seated us, not in the bistro we had booked, but in the restaurant next door, which appears to have the same management. Whether it was a bad day or stress from a heavy workload, such treatment is unacceptable and something I have never...
Read moreThis restaurant has really good ratings but it’s not that good.
The nut and pretzel appetizer (yuck!!!) Oysters (excellent) The fish trio was just okay (salmon and cabbage was good, haddock was sooooo salty and rubbery, the other fish was bland). Fish and chips, (ugh) the fish was too breaded, and overcooked. The fries were overcooked and dry and bland. The side salad was excellent.
Dessert was the worst of it, I had a chocolate cake with crème anglaise, I could not taste any chocolate in the cake, my husband had the Coffee Gourmand which was inedible.. it was a tiny muffin, some kind of English style cake, crème brûlée, (which was the most disappointing, because it has no flavor), and the best part was a soft cheese with fruit on the top)
The coffee was great, however.
The meal was €70, which is not expensive, but it also wasn’t good.
One more thing to note, the restaurant is full of heat lamps, which are unbearably hot. There is one for every other table and it’s pretty unpleasant to...
Read moreStopped in Honfleur for a quick visit and to get some good lunch. Parked not far from here on the huge parking lot. We didn't have a reservation but were lucky to get one of the last tables. It was a busy day, lots of visitors in town.
Even though very busy, the service was perfect. Friendly and helpful. Had six oysters and the soupe de poissons maison (fish soup) for starters. The Oysters were fresh and tasty and the fish soup excellent, full of seafood flavours.
For the mains we've chosen the Moules marinieres (mussels) with fries and the Cuisse de grenouilles (frog legs) with garlic butter. Both great choices. And the frog legs nothing short of amazing. Best frog legs I've ever had. And we also had a small bottle of white win with the meal.
Really enjoyed our lunch here. Quality was great, value as well. Very fair priced. Surely a place to go...
