Ah, Honfleur. We went for just one day, and now I’m convinced the town is secretly designed as a trap—you arrive thinking, “Oh, this will be a nice little harbor walk,” and before you know it you’re contemplating selling your car, your house, and possibly your in-laws just so you can afford a second visit.
The port itself looks like it was created by an architect who got paid in rosé. Every single building is doing its best impression of a postcard, lined up like contestants in a beauty pageant. Slate roofs are tilting coquettishly, pastel shutters batting their wooden eyelashes, and the water is practically begging you to take yet another photo that looks suspiciously like the one you took three minutes ago.
The cobblestones, however, are less charming. They’re like a medieval obstacle course designed to test your ankle insurance. You don’t stroll in Honfleur—you wobble elegantly, like a slightly tipsy impressionist painter searching for his easel.
Then there are the cafés. Imagine an entire harbor where every table is whispering: “Sit here. Order mussels. You’ll regret it if you don’t.” So naturally, you give in. The seafood is so fresh it practically slaps you on the cheek before diving onto your plate. Pair it with local cider and suddenly you’re promising your partner that you will learn French this time (you won’t).
We only had a single day, which was a mistake. Honfleur is not a one-day kind of place—it’s a place that tricks you into wanting to stay for a week, then a lifetime, then possibly reincarnate as a seagull just to get permanent residency.
Final verdict: one day in Honfleur is like going on a speed date with someone gorgeous—you leave immediately smitten, a little dizzy, and plotting how to see them again without looking...

Read moreHonfleur is a pretty town. And the Port is the heart of it. Lined with beautiful and colorful buildings. Cafés, shops and mostly restaurants are lined up along the harbour.
The Musée de la Marine, the église Saint-Étienne, the Musée du Vieux Honfleur and La Lieutenance are some spots you might want to check out. All found right here at the port.
The whole area is just picture-perfect and a sight for itself. On the east side of the harbour the walking area is pretty wide and is less visited - due to the lack of restaurants it seems. The west side though is much more narrow and completely packed with restaurants and guests. At times difficult to get through. That part isn't very enjoyable. And most restaurants cater to visitors that focus more on the scenic views than the quality of food. If you want an enjoyable meal, better head elsewhere in town.
Besides that it's really a pretty spot to be and surely a must-do and must-see when...
