Packed and Busy at Dinner. Works if Not in a Rush. Not great for dinner with small kids. The main staff lady was very accommodating and welcoming when we showed up without a reservation. However, we probably should not have stayed - it was packed inside and the tables were very close together. It took a while to take our order and then even longer to get our food. Our 9-month old son was just unable to deal with the long wait and how overstimulated he was by everyone walking around and the tables around us. We ordered the 8 mezeh plates for 2 special. The 4 cold courses were okay - three dips (humus, tzatziki and baba ganoush). The pita was nothing special and the dips were honestly a bit bland. We were almost an hour in at this point, so we asked to take the 4 hot plates to go, and again the main staff lady was very understanding and went to see it right away. There was a little bit of miscommunication because a few mins later another staff member brought out two of our hot plates (and I asked again for takeaway, to which I got a little bit of attitude). We quickly paid, waited for our food and left. We ate the hot plates back at the hotel. They were good even cold (particularly the chicken wings, which were very flavorful). Would have been a better experience if we weren't pressed for time. Probably would only do one or two cold plates and more of the hot plates as well (instead of the 8 mezeh plates...
Read moreThe restaurant has many things going for it. The old town location, good and quick service, dish presentation, but most of all - a very good cuisine alternative to the other traditional joints. But if you’re looking for distinct flavors of Mediterranean food they’re not present there. We tried a “Mezze for 2” option for 40 Euros. It consisted of 4 cold and 4 warm appetizers. Only the traditional salad stood out from the rest and felt as truly hand made. It was slightly soggy though indicating a considerable gap from the time it was prepared. The rest of the items while nicely presented felt like from prepackaged and preserved options from restaurant supply distribution. The food quantity was on the small side. There were only 2 falafels for 2 persons, etc. making impressions falafels being exquisite food. If you’re not hungry the Mezze option might work. Otherwise, you still will be wishing for more food. In short the food quality over its price ratio is not great. But the restaurant provides a good alternative to the other...
Read moreTo be clear from the beginning, this is a fast food labeled as a restaurant. The central location here is where the good things stop. The food looks and tastes like it was freshly unpacked from the supermarket or kept in the fridge for at least two days. Only two dishes on the gourmet menu were good, and they were not even close to the gourmet label. The rest were described above. I asked for the best wine on the menu, which was not only bad but also sour, probably improperly stored. As for the service, we have to ask for everything: for the table to be cleaned after the rain, for stabilising our table, for napkins, for bread, etc. The waiter refuses to place us at a larger table near the other tables to allow the people who came after us to occupy the larger tables, which are now unused. Some dishes were from plastic, and the glasses were of the lowest quality. We do not...
