(This is all intended as constructive criticism): Incredibly disappointed with the food quality. While the ambience and outdoor setting are beautiful, the same cannot be said for the dishes being served. The “artichokes marinated in basil” appetizer is merely canned artichokes, and bland ones at that. The stuffed pasta was borderline inedible, mainly due to the evidently jarred “tomato” sauce. I question whether this restaurant even cooks their own food considering all items ordered tasted as though they were uncooked and pulled straight from cans and jars. I don’t expect every restaurant to be Michelin star, but at the same time, it’s not difficult to throw together a simple tomato sauce, or some seasoned artichokes. This restaurant seems to have chosen the laziest route possible, which is unfortunate considering the BEAUTIFUL setting/outdoor area. Oh, did I forgot to mention the “Margarita Pizza”, which looked like a cheese pizza from the frozen food aisle? Do better. You have an amazing location, so pleas invest into making the food quality match....
Read moreOur family had the pleasure of dining at La Scaleta in Amboise, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home by the friendly staff. The service was impeccable – attentive, professional, and with a genuine passion for what they do.
The food was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that transported us straight to Italy. From the perfectly seasoned pasta to the rich and savory sauces, each bite was a joy. The pizza, with its crispy crust and generous toppings, was a standout favorite for everyone in our group. The dessert selection, particularly the tiramisu, was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal.
The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the ideal spot for a relaxed family dinner. La Scaleta truly stands out for its combination of quality, service, and atmosphere.
We highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone visiting Amboise. You won’t be disappointed – it’s a taste of Italy in the...
Read moreThe food was great, but if you’re an American tourist stay away. When we went to pay the person who took my card automatically added a 20% tip. While this is customary in the US, it is not almost anywhere else in the world. We had already left an appropriate tip on the table, going up to the register to pay for our meal and having someone increase the total amount without our consent was not ok. When I asked why the total was 20% more than the original check we received the guy pretended he didn’t understand English - despite speaking in perfect English leading up to this. I could have created a scene and demanded a manager, but looking at the big picture it wasn’t worth my time to argue 10€. But it does make me wonder how much money this place has scammed out of other unsuspecting...
