I have written many reviews on Yelp and some on Google. I rarely give a 5 star score. Because it's like tipping. If it is okay, it's a three or four if the service is friendly and the food is good.
Let's begin with the scenario. My wife became ill while traveling, and her appetite was limited to soft things like cheese or soup, etc. I ventured down to the lobby of the hotel (Hotel Lan Roz). I explained she could not go out and all the tables were reserved. I asked if the kitchen could make a soup for her, and to make it more convenient, I would come down and bring it to her myself. The nice friendly lady at the desk said she would explain and ask the chef. She returned after a few minutes to say, "Sorry, it is not possible."
So I ventured out on foot into the lovely little town of Carnac. After several replies, all saying, "It is not possible." I soon learned why. It is June, and soup is a winter dish. So I switched it up and returned to the same eateries and asked for Salad Chevre with chicken. Again, with the "not possible" sometimes because they did not serve chicken.
Defeated I began the trek back to the hotel. I passed on the way. This place: Pizzeria Helena! They had chicken, and they had Salad Chevre. So I asked in my best Frenglish. For the salad and add the chicken. "Not Possible " I asked why? She said one moment. She came out with another person (I assume was Helena). I didn't understand e everything they said, but the body language was "yeah, sure."
They were: Friendly and patient, even though my French is extremely limited (still learning). Atmosphere was lovely, in my opinion, the prettiest courtyard patio for dining in town.
My wife loved her salad.
So, for going above and beyond where the fancier restaurants are cannot. 5 stars. It's a pizzeria, and they managed to do what 6 other eateries could not. So if you are in Carnac and feel like taking your beloved out to a special...
Read moreSuch a beautiful restaurant!! The waiters were amazingly attentive and so kind, we’re not the best french speakers and they took their time to help us wording our orders, without being obtrusive or annoying. A really nice experience to eat there, as it’s really quiet and pleasant. It’s set in a pretty, partly covered courtyard, but there is also seating for indoor dining, and it’s so pretty furnished and decorated too, we all were like “whoaa, it’s so pretty here”, as we stepped in. The pizza was one of the best I’ve ever eaten, not a single crumb was left afterwards. Just the ice cream wasn’t so nice, and I doubt that it’s homemade, but I’d still really really recommend eating there, as it is one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve...
Read moreUnfortunately we had a terrible experience. With half the tables open in the garden and inside the restaurant, the host insisted we sit at a small table in the very back of the restaurant, right next to the pizza oven, and stubbornly insisted this was the only table available to us. Hard to understand this, it was very unwelcoming - was it because we were not native French-speaking or some other reason?...
