Wonderfully located next to the historic Tumulus, the largest burial mound in continental Europe, this restaurant is worth a visit for the view alone. The terrace overlooks the surrounding countryside, making it a peaceful and picturesque spot to sit and take it all in. It’s a lovely setting, and we were quite taken with the atmosphere, which felt elegant, relaxed, and pleasantly unhurried. That said, we must confess to a rather poor decision on our part. In a moment of misguided curiosity, we ordered three different types of coffee, each one worse than the last. Every cup was uniquely bitter and entirely unenjoyable. The cappuccino, at least, looked quite nice, but unfortunately tasted nothing like it appeared. Still, it gave us something to chuckle about afterwards. This experience is not a reflection on the quality of the restaurant itself, but rather a classic tourist misstep. We couldn’t help but notice the much wiser guests at the table beside us. They had ordered a charcuterie platter, a dozen fresh oysters, and a bottle of local champagne. Everything looked absolutely outstanding, and we were left quietly regretting our choices. So yes, definitely make time to visit this spot. The attached hotel looks charming, and the restaurant has a lot going for it. Just be sure to order like a local. Embrace the regional cuisine, avoid the coffee if you can, and enjoy the experience properly. That way, you will leave feeling satisfied, not slightly sheepish with a mouthful of acid and the lingering feeling of having missed the point entirely.
