Brasserie Comptoir Simone is a charming, upscale brasserie tucked near the heart of Lyon—elegant without being pretentious, and clearly proud of its French culinary roots with just the right touch of international flair. The menu offers something for everyone, and the kitchen delivers with finesse. The Italian salad was a light yet flavorful start—fresh greens, sun-dried tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and just the right amount of balsamic to balance it all. It’s the kind of dish that sets the tone without overwhelming the palate. The steak was the standout: perfectly cooked to order, well-seasoned, and accompanied by crisp fries and a pepper sauce that hit all the right notes. It’s a comforting classic done with real attention to quality. If you’re feeling indulgent, don’t skip the oysters. Fresh, briny, and impeccably served, they brought a touch of the sea to Lyon in the best possible way. Dessert was a quiet triumph: the crème brûlée arrived with a perfectly torched top that gave way to a silky, vanilla-rich custard underneath. Simple, timeless, and expertly executed.

The restaurant is big and noisy when there are a lot of people. The stuff is quite friendly and the prices are reasonable. We have ordered Caesar salad which came with an option French fries or cooked vegetables. Personally I didn’t like the side dishes but that’s because I’m picky about the food. Otherwise everything was good. I just didn’t like my latte because it was huge and not really tasty.

BIG PORTION ALERT! This nice place serves dinner from 19:00h and the portions are huge. I got a salat with goat cheese, which was good and I also tried their vanilla creme brulee, also good. Additionlly, there were at least two vegetarian options. Side note, I didn't have reservation but there was a lot of free tables, so that wasn't a problem. Last but not least, it was wheelchair friendly!

A good dinner spot that feels a bit fancier than it is. That being said the food was very good, service was fast and not overbearing, and the prices were impressively affordable for croix-rousse and Lyon. It is a big space so it can get loud and feel crowded around dinner but you are definitely not packed in there extremely tight which is nice. The house wine was decent for an amazing price. All in all a good spot if you just want a simple safe bet of a...
