Avoid as the plague!!! You’ll thank me later!
Why settle for arrogant waiters, nonexistent service, and mediocre food when you can experience much more value and satisfaction at McDonald's!
From the moment I stepped in, the place was bustling with activity, leaving me perplexed as to why. Perhaps it had its charm back in the 1950s, but it certainly doesn't hold up today. Upon being seated alone, I found myself uncomfortably close to another couple, separated only by a plexiglass divider. The lack of privacy was evident, with our plates seemingly on display for each other. It felt like they were squeezing every penny out of this place.
After a frustrating 10 minutes of trying to flag down a waiter, I finally managed to place my order, only to be met with eye rolls and impatience from the waitstaff. The level of rudeness was beyond belief, as if I had inconvenienced them by merely being there.
When the food arrived, the presentation spoke volumes. My starter lacked even the most basic garnish, with the waiter insisting that it was intentional—a claim supported by a previous promotional photo. The contrast between expectation and reality was stark. The main course further disappointed, arriving cold and appearing more suitable for a child's portion.
Considering dessert, I ultimately decided against it after the string of letdowns throughout the meal.
When the bill arrived, I had to push to have two rock-hard bread pieces, which were unrequested and inedible, taken off the total. Additionally, my request for sparkling water was met with tap water.
At a total of 41 euros for two subpar dishes, the experience left a bitter taste. Just look at the pictures! With that amount (excluding tip), I could have treated an entire family to a satisfying meal at McDonald's and left with smiles all around.
Despite my best efforts, I struggle to find any reason to recommend this establishment, unless one enjoys wasting money on substandard food...

The tables occupy a huge space, where the booth style seats and tales in between positioned in a row, with many rows running close to each other. That creates a cafeteria sort of atmosphere when you just walk in and sit down. Honestly, I feel that if they divided the space up into sections of a more private dining, it would have increased the appeal ten fold. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area, but it was too hot to enjoy the outside.
We ordered one of the pre-set menus, tuna tataki and a couple of appetizers, leaving some room for dessert, which was a good deal and enough food for three people.
The Cucumber Gazpacho was excellent; very refreshing and tasty. It was a bit thick and the serving was a bowl, not huge, but large enough that all of us got a good amount of share. The breadbasket served with the meal was generous and tasty as well. The cold foie gras was more or less standard, it tasted good and the portion was good, the apricot jam accompanying it was good. Steak Tartare was also rather standard, made table side, which provided an opportunity to make adjustments to the ingredients if one whished. I liked that bit. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes, a generous portion in a bowl.
The main course included Tuna Tataki and Mousseline of Pike. The tuna was a bit overcooked, but the quinoa salad accompanying it was pretty good. The pike was alright, tasting a tiny bit fishy.
For dessert we had Floating Island with Pink Pralines, which was a sort of strawberry soup with and an ice cream bowl: Coffee and Cassis. Yum!
Overall, it was...
Read moreThis is an absolute gem and a must visit if you find yourself in Lyon💛 From the moment we walked in, the sheer grandeur of the interior took our breath away 💯 high ceilings, ornate decor, and a bustling yet refined atmosphere that harks back to a bygone era....It felt like stepping into a classic movie scene🥰, with waiters elegantly weaving through tables in crisp white jackets💜
The menu was a delightful blend of traditional French fare and regional specialities, all beautifully presented and rich in flavour. I went for the choucroute garnie, while my partner chose the filet de bœuf 🥰 both were cooked to perfection.... The house beer was a pleasant surprise too, brewed on site and served fresh, adding a lovely touch of authenticity💯⭐️
Service was top-notch throughout. The staff were friendly, professional, and impressively efficient given the size of the dining room and the steady stream of patrons. Despite its popularity, everything ran like clockwork. Even our desserts (a tarte Tatin and a truly indulgent profiterole) arrived promptly and were utterly divine💝
