Giuseppe — Restaurant in Lyon

Rude waiter, we arrived at the restaurant and got allowed to order only pizza and salads because we were numerous, ok. Then the waiter served only half of the group ignoring the other half. The first half got drinks and food, meanwhile the waiter was serving other tables arrived later. As I asked why he was ignoring half the group he rudely answered "you see I'm only one?". At the end we got served, while our colleagues almost finished eating. The pizza dough was raw and really hard to digest, but at that point I wasn't expecting anything good from this place....

Stayed at the Marriott close by - Giuseppe’s was an enjoyable dinner. Partners ordered the brisket pasta (brisket was delicious, definitely carried the pasta). I ended up ordering the most expensive chicken fingers, French fries, and side salad I’ve ever had. Mistakenly chose the option to have fries and a salad instead of pasta. (Salad was only lettuce with light dressing.)

Would go back again and just order...

Ich habe in der letzten Woche an am Kunsthistorikerkongress CIHA in Lyon im Kongresszentrum teilgenommen. Die Sektionsleitung hatte extra einen Tisch am Donnerstag vorbestellt. Obwohl vorbestellt und drinnen, wo wir sassen noch sehr viel Platz war beschwerte sich die Bedienung, es seine, zu viele Leute. Als wir bestellen sollten, sagte uns die männliche Bedienung, nachdem einige baten eine Pizza bzw. ein Essen zu teilen, wurde uns quasi als Befehl Folgendes mitgegeben: "Ein Stuhl - ein Essen". Als ich nachfragte wurde mir rüde geantwortet, dass das überall so sei - das ist die normale Regel weltweit!" Als ich wagte weiterhin zu widersprechen (allein in den letzten Tagen in Lyon habe ich mehrfach ein Gericht zwischen 2, 3, oder mehr Personen geteilt). Als international arbeitender Wissenschaftler ist mir das mit meinen 57 Jahren noch nie passiert. Ich frage mich, wie kann ein solches Restaurant in einem Kongresszentrum tätig sein. Leider war das Essen - zumindest bei mir - auch nicht gut: Spaghetti Bolognese waren weich gekocht und hatten mit Sauce Bolognese nichts zu tun. Der unfreundliche Ober tauchte aber im weiteren Verlauf nicht mehr auf. Sehr, aber auch wirklich sehr enttäuschend...
