La Maison Thaï — Restaurant in Lyon

At last I found an authentic Thai restaurant in Lyon. After ages we had Som Tam, the famous papaya salad. It was as authentic as we had in Fuket in Thailand. The red curry and green curry were good, too. The quantity was large and we couldn't finish. The service was excellent, and there were english speakers, which helped us a lot. I have kept this Thai restaurant in our regular visit list. People who are fond of Thai food should visit this place once.

I visited this place again on 25th April but got disheartened to find that the food didn't taste the same as before.

Som Tam(papaya salad) was neither tangy nor spicy/chill, what it should have been. Even the main dishes(viande) with chicken with ginger and chicken were not that spicy, although the symbol against the items in the menu card indicated so.

This time, all the dishes were sweeter, which is unlikely for any authentic Thai food. I was disappointed, to be honest.

If it is because of the change in chef, I can still understand, but I need to give a feedback...

I’ve had a lot of Thai food in my life and this is by far the best, not exaggerating. I had Pad Thai 2x, once with chicken once with shrimp. Both great!! Perfect touch of the sour flavor 🤌🤌. The food is always super fresh and comes out piping hot, legit the most authentic one I’ve ever had. The serving was also amazing. Staff are kind and warm hearted people. Incredibly nice staff with very authentic food, they made my stay in Lyon special.

The food was delicious and so were their recommendations and conversations. They even stopped to chat with me to help provide recommendations and warn me about where pick pockets are prevalent when they were prepping before open!
