Le Pique Assiette — Restaurant in Lyon

Good food, good location, good staff. Typical Lyonesse. Better to book.

The most iconic restaurants in Lyon are the Bouchons, where you can taste the original food from the region; and this restaurant is one of the best that I've ever been in.

In the menu you can find all the typical Lyones dishes that you are expecting in a Bouchon if it's your first time in Lyon. They have special menus for tourists that help you a lot to discover the flavours of Lyon. You can also find meats, fish, burgers, cold meat, cheese and fondue.

The waiter was a very polite girl that changed the table for a bigger one when we asked for it. She knew how to guide us with the choice of wine, and explained us the different dishes and which was the best option for our priorities.

This was the worst meal we had on our 9-day trip to Rhône-Alpes. We came on Thursday, November 25th.

The problem was the kitchen and staffing levels. Our kids food came out COLD. Their steak haché, and half their french fries, were not hot at all. (But the other half were very hot?)

My appetizer didn't come out until my partner's entree. And neither were very good.

Our waitress was doing the best she could given the restaurant was packed, there were only 2 servers handling all front-of-house duties, and the kitchen was so unreliable. They need more servers!!

I'm trying to understand how this could happen given the good reviews. I bet the head chef recently quit and took people with him, and the management is just trying to keep the restaurant going. And it's a great location, they can still make money. But it won't last long like...

Music was soft and the whole place had a warm and welcoming ambiance. Portions were abundant and ingredients fresh. Two formulas of typical lyonnese cooking were available. I had a "cervelle de canut" (fresh white cheese garnished with onions and ciboulette) with ham and salad (and I really loved the "moutarde à l'ancienne" on the salad! It is a sauce not always available in France). The main course was excellent : Poultry with porcini mushroom sauce, it literally melted in the mouth and it was very tasty!
