Fate decreed that on the evening of the 9th of July, while my family and I were strolling past the James Joyce pub in Lyon, a large pint glass was hurled directly at my son's forehead.
Never will I forget the bone chilling scream of my son in my wife's arms.
Staff was of little assistance. The so-called manager, "Liam" was violently drunk. He was telling me that the supposed assailant had fled the scene, then a moment later, "he was in handcuffs, downstairs". It was evident who actually threw the glass. This particular individual was merely trying to dissimulate the situation.
We received no official apology from the establishment. We left feeling sick and confused. The owner(s) were nowhere to be seen, although, reading these reviews it seemed that this "Liam" was indeed the owner. Wonderful.
How could this happen to us? How could this happen to a child? And how can a person get away with such abhorrent behaviour? These were questions that haunted us and which lead me to write this review.
To all potential customers, I would recommend you look elsewhere for an evening pint. I tend to believe that most people would not support this cowardly act.
To the James Joyce Pub, I expect an apology. I can be contacted by email, facebook, instagram and whatsApp. There is no excuse.
To my son, I apologise that I could not...

Members of my French Family love this place.. and so in for a penny-in for a pound.. we went there this afternoon. Its so so strange to see an Irish Pub in Old Town Lyon.. in fact ANYWHERE on Lyon. Great (and funny) staff. My Family all ordered Guinness .. being too heavy for me - I ordered Mangers Cider. After a couple rounds.. a little snack was in order.. two lots of Fish and Chips. The Chips were really good but the fish (where did it come from - the freezer ?) tasted a tad bland. Almost as if a 'fish bake (multiple varieties blended together. But - it soon got ate and plates 'locked clean' (not quite.. but not a morsel left.. lol_ Sat outside for another round... refreshing a hot day, dry day (32c).... just learnt this place is open until the early hours (2-3am).
(Apologies for extreme lateness of review, I thought i had...
