I had dinner at this restaurant last night and thoroughly enjoyed it… to be clear, it’s possibly one of the best dinners I have ever had. The ambiance was perfect. The restaurant is located in a very old building near the cathedral and they played romantic old French chansons, which perfectly fit the setting. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. The food was incredible. I had the onion soup as a starter, which was delicate and savory with a bit of natural sweetness from the onions. Then I had the quenelle… I had never had it before and didn’t know what to expect, but it was like tasting a little bit of heaven. It was quite light and tender, almost like a pudding, and together with the creamy sauce, it was savory with hints of sweetness from the shellfish cream sauce… 10 out of 10. For desert I had a raspberry sorbet with some kind of liquor. Initially I was a bit alarmed by the flavors. The sorbet was very tart (almost too tart), and the liquor was woody, pungent… almost too bitter. But as the sorbet melted a bit and the flavors really combined, I got it. I would almost say the desert was the highlight of the meal. It was challenging, unusual… but when properly mixed, it created a flavor that I can’t even describe. At the beginning of desert, I thought, “hmmm, I don’t think I’d order that again”….. but by the end of it, I was thinking, “maybe I should come back just for this desert.” All in all, I have nothing but praise for this restaurant and I would strongly recommend it to anyone...
Read morevisitied this place the other night around 8pm, i had tablier de sapeur à la lyonnaise, sauce gribiche; breaded veal stomach served with traditional lyonnaise mustard. They were served with the most amazing potato dish that i am determined to imitate when i’m back home - alternate layers of thinly sliced potatoes and something like a béchamel sauce. Usually am quite turned off by stomach, but the way they did it here was as irresistible as it looks: the crunchiness of the breaded exterior almost mocked the tough chewy meat, a beautiful juxtaposition. The lyonnaise mustard was like an egg mayo salad with the distinct spiciness of mustard, paired very nicely with the meat & the roast vegetables.
Also tried the filet de bœuf charolais, crème de morilles; grilled beef fillet with a morels mushroom sauce. Another hit, the meat was juicy & although not the most flavourful on its own, it was well complemented by the mushroom sauce.
As my first ever french dining experience, this was phenomenal! The prices are quite steep but with TheFork we managed to get 50% off so it was super worth it. Service was not bad, there was a very friendly waiter whose name i didnt get, he was very nice. Location and ambience wise, its also very...
Read moreThis was my first dining experience at this restaurant. A friend I met earlier in Paris recommended it. I made a reservation for one person without any expectations. Upon arrival, the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, promptly seating me. I opted for the three-course milk menu, concluding with dessert. The first two courses were exquisite, but I experienced a considerable delay awaiting the dessert menu. It seemed the staff had overlooked me, although the restaurant was bustling. While understandable, I acknowledge that mistakes can occur. Upon reviewing my check, I noticed an additional item, which was promptly removed upon verification. Overall, I would return for the cuisine, but I hope the staff will be more attentive to patrons in the future, regularly checking in on them. Otherwise, everything was great, and I will definitely return again.P.S the ice cream desert wasn’t my liking. Skip that if you’re not into alcohol...
