When Iâm paying 22⏠for a cocktail I expect something special, and excellent service. Sadly I received neither.
I wanted to go and visit this bar because Iâd heard they had a gorgeous terrace with fabulous views. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the terrace furniture - more B&Q Garden Centre than 5* Hotel! But the view was lovely.
I got there around 4pm and the terrace wasnât busy, but a lot of the tables were dirty. I managed to find a clean table, sat down, and waited. And waited. And waited⊠Eventually I caught the eye of a waitress and she brought me the menu. Then I waited a good 15 minutes before getting the attention of another waiter, who took my order. Around another 15 minutes later my cocktail arrived, and during that time I saw several people approach the bar to ask where their orders were as theyâd been waiting since before I arrived.
I have to admit I was also somewhat underwhelmed with my cocktail. It was ok, but not worth 22âŹ. Coming from London Iâm not adverse to paying ÂŁ25 for a cocktail in a high-end bar, but with that youâll usually get ânibblesâ and water, neither of these were offered at Capian.
After finishing my drink I sat there for some time waiting for the staff to notice and ask if I wanted another drink. Nobody did. In the end I wanted to pay and leave - but no one wanted to take my money either!
Sadly disappointing experience. The toilets were...
Read moreStaying at the property and wanted to love the bar. Did not happen. Terrace definitely has a beautiful view of the Basilica and the Old Port. With that said, we found a dirty table and chairs upon seating. Menus were delivered promptly, but the service from that point was disappointingly slow and uninterested. Had to go to the bar to pay the bill as we could not get a check. Terrace was a bit busy, so tried a second time the next evening and due to rain we were seated inside. Music was a singer with an Ipad of accompaniment. Nice singer, but not the level of entertainment I would expect in a bar of this type. Service was again very poor. Slow to come, slow to serve, and then non-existent from that point forward. Also noted some tables received "nibbles" while others did not. We did the first night, but not the second. Drinks are expensive and seemed overpriced in our opinion. I think the bottom line is a beautiful location with tremendous opportunity, but Intercontinental has missed out with the overall package they...
