Ziguinchor — Restaurant in Marseille

This restaurant absolutely blew us away. Tucked down a small side street it’s a hidden gem full of charm and flavour. The host, Thomas, is warm, and knowledgeable he’ll guide you through the menu and make you feel at home.

Zinghinchar’s signature dish, Thieboudienne, is an absolute flavour bomb. As others have mentioned, it might not look like much at first glance, but it’s a standout — rich, and comforting. The rum punch was dangerously good and went down far too easily, so definitely don’t skip it! The fried fish with caramelised onions and sweet plantain was another highlight — perfectly cooked and packed...

This place is truly a gem. The music played here is incredible, I spent a considerable portion of my visit Shazamming.

I ordered Fatayas and they were delicious, I also had a pichet of white wine. Both of which were great value for money.

The hostess was warm and attentive.

Visiting Ziguinchor almost felt almost like a portal to West Africa, down to the energetic specifics. The atmosphere is vibrant and homely with a traditional feel.

This off-the-beaten-path spot is one worth heading to. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to it by some locals I had hung out with. For me, it was my first (and thus far, only) experience with Senegalese food. While I'm far from being an expert, I found the staff to be very helpful when it came to recommending a dinner. Nevertheless, everything that my party had ordered looked amazing. I'm sure it would be near impossible...
