This review is long overdue. We went in Oct 2024. We parked by the church and walked the cobblestone streets to Le Saint Vernier. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess who we later found out was also named Vanessa. The inside was modestly decorated and there was only one table occupied by a quiet couple because it was early. We started with the delicate Escargots de Bourgogne which were fresh and flavorful. Then we had the traditional Boeuf Bourguignon and the Foie Gras with Smoked Duck Breast. So rich and indulgent, every bite was just heaven. We sopped up every bit of sauce with bread. Not a drop was wasted. Soon the place was packed with locals and conversations I didn't understand filled the air, like a pleasant buzzing, or maybe it was because of the wine. In the end, we had espressos and a chat with Vanessa, the hostess, who agreed with us that the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region has the best food and wine in France. What a perfect traditional French meal for only 60€! I wish to visit again soon.

On the menu: Boeuf bourguignon à l’ancienne Escargots de Bourgogne Foie gras, Magret...

We were lucky to find a last available table without prior booking.

The food was extraordinarily tasty.

As we found the restaurant by chance during our journey - we were first amazed by the tiny town that welcomed us with thousand of Christmas lights in an after Christmas ambiance of night streets. Then we were astonished by the tiny restaurant on the corner of one of its streets and of its very French and very home-like food. And we were wrapped by the kind care of the restaurant personnel.

The place to definitely be back...

On a pris le menu gourmand à 35€ Entree salade a l'époisse, puis 2 œufs meurette , puis bœuf bourguignon, enfin tiramisu à l'époisse.
