Very luckily found this while wandering near the Nimes Arena looking for a bite. Was a bit skeptical that all existing reviews were 5 star, but in my opinion the food is 7 stars out of 5. It is absolutely stunning in terms of the ingredient combinations, the presentation and the absolutely superb execution. The menu is short, only 10 items of 'small plates', and we took 5 of them for the three of us. All the choices were a home run, highlight after highlight. The lamb was crispy and brilliantly combined with coriander and Moroccan flatbread. The goat cheese mousse has a yoghurt like texture, the grilled octopus superb with the eggplant puree, the sauteed lettuce (yes!) was inspired, the grilled almonds amazing. I wanted more and was torn between 2nd round of above and further options, but went with the grilled duck and the shrimp burger, also superb. The girls shared the chocolate creme dessert which again exceeded expectations. All of this accompanied by some simple but good wines. This gem is family run, Algerian and Vietnamese couple plus it seems the rest of the family, and the fusion absolutely works 100% and is apparent in the the friendly and genuine service. Apparently only been open 2 weeks so we were so lucky to walk up and easily get a table, this place deserves to be booked solid and to get on Michelins radar if they can keep up the enthusiasm and the quality. Only in town for 4 days but will return and regretting its such a long way from NZ and Korea! Oh, and the name means 'roots' in local dialect, which I understood to...
Read moreWe ate in this restaurant tonight and despite being busy everything was 5 stars. While the service and ambience are excellent the food is the star of the show and we would award 6 stars if we could. The food is a fusion of Vietnamese (restaurant run by 2 Vietnamese sisters) and Algerian(chef) served as a tapas style small plates but do not be fooled the "burger" is a full size burger and an absolute taste sensation. Two plates each is ample food coupled with bread to "mop up" the amazing sauces. If you visit Nimes you MUST visit this restaurant to experience this food for yourself - we also recommend to book in advance. The house wine and cocktails also superb. We are returning tomorrow night and plan to work our way through the menu before we leave on Wednesday- it...
Read moreBook here now! It was our first time visiting Nimes and Heita was a recommendation. All of the dishes we ordered blew us away, they were so delicious!! They also had a huge tuna that day so they curated different dishes for each part of the fish - WOW they were so tasty. It was recommended to order 2 dishes per person but we ended up ordering 7 dishes (we were 2 people) because it was THAT good. The service was amazing, super friendly, fast and they spoke perfect English. Highly recommend to book a reservation vs walk-in as I saw them turning people away since they were full. Thank you for a...
