The owners speak both English (UK) and French, while the rest of the staff (part-timers, I believe) speaks French. The cook is very friendly, the food, specially the bagels and (if you get lucky and it's in the menu that day!) Western and Southern European dishes (the tortilla was really tasty, as a Valencian I was super excited to try it). The garlic bread was crunchy, the size was very apt, very filling and well garnished and buttery. The price-quality is impeccable, definitely check it out if you are in the area. They also have rooms available to stay in. They offer souvenirs and biker items as well. The vibe feels like what a Northern coffee shop feels like: bright, comfy, neutral to cool colours, variety music playing in the background, cute little items (like the salt shakers that look like mushrooms and little veggies, which is a cute detail I noticed and made me smile). The Velo Café is the best spot in the whole of Nevers to share a moment with friends or family. I am not a dessert kinda guy but dessert chef and owner Ana might just convert you like she did me. Husband Charlie is intimate with the finest details and ingredients that go into his freshest salads and lovingly-prepared dishes. Great selection of teas, their coffees are awesome, carefully selected wines and impressive IPAs and a heady local brew…. What more could you be waiting for? Go for it! While on my camino to st. Jean pied de port I had a rest day in Nevers. Upon crossing the bridge for some breakfast I stumbled upon Cafe Velo, as an avid cyclist I was excited! The atmosphere was as any cycling café should be, art work, newspaper articles, signed cycling shirts the whole nine yards. All in perfect condition. The espresso and cappuccino were a slice of heaven, the pancake were like my grandma used the make them. The service was from the textbook.

For lunch I went back and mama mia, the pasta. 👌
