With all the strong positive reviews, maybe I just had my expectations too high. Wife and I ate here on a Tuesday evening, day 3 of vacation in this area. We ordered a glass of rose, water, pizza margherita, pasta with salmon. Drinks took a long time to arrive. I assume the wine was intended to arrive with dinner. I assume the water was forgotten? It came shortly before dinner when asked a second time and they were attentive to refilling the carafe later in the meal. Pizza seemed to be missing basil? Or was chopped so small my eyes couldn’t see it. I didn’t like the pizza, seemed too doughy/bready. But my wife did like it and took the leftovers back with us. I wasn’t interested in more than one piece. Pasta was mid. I ate a bit of it. I couldn’t figure out what was missing from it. Overall lackluster dish for me. Was fine leaving it. They boxed it with the pizza so we will see if the wife eats it. Wine was not what I was expecting. I was thrown off by the sediment but I’m no wine expert. It’s probably my fault for not knowing what I was ordering. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The olives and bread at the start are a nice touch. Bathroom was very clean. Interior of restaurant had nice ambiance. Overall, maybe my high expectations led to my disappointment. I’ve enjoyed every other meal in this city and am a bit bummed that this one wasn’t also a great time. Despite how it may sound, I’m not generally a picky person. If I lived here, I’d give it another try. If you are just visiting I couldn’t give my recommendation and instead suggest trying elsewhere unless you just...
Read moreThis place is amazing!! 1 person, 35€, appetizer, Entre, wine, bottle sparkling water. They treat you like family. They went above and beyond to translate the section of the menu I was interested in so I could eat what I really wanted to and not just have to pick something. they catered to my dairy allergy. They have a great wine selection and aren’t bothered to let you try a few to get the one that appeases your taste. Even with the language barrier, they made sure I was taken care of the whole time. All three of the guys used Google translate or just talked it out with me to make sure I ate what I actually wanted. You’re going to get authentic Italian food here. I had the best anchovy with Parmesan, capers, olives, sundried tomatoes, and Parmesan- I had never tried this before and it was delicious. I would come back here just to eat this specialty of this restaurant. It’s a dish of anchovies, tomatoes, parmigiana, bread crumbs, Italian spices. They’re predominantly the only restaurant open on Monday in the whole town. The stay...
Read moreBest Pasta Hidden Gem in Villefranche-sur-Mer. I discovered this Italian restaurant that is truly a hidden gem. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, inviting ambiance that immediately made me feel at home.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the cheese selection and the pasta. Every dish was crafted with such finesse and authenticity, it felt like a little piece of Italy right here in France. The pasta was cooked to perfection—al dente, just the way it should be. Each bite was a burst of flavor, from the rich, creamy carbonara to the delightfully fresh seafood linguine. Matteo and Paolo are truly amazing, very knowledgeable and passionate about the food they served. Their recommendations were spot on, and their hospitality added to the overall experience.
