Now here’s a place that deserves more customers! I’m giving this 5 stars, not because it is a gourmet Michelin-rosette-level experience, but because it is a nice, unpretentious, normal, “everyday” sort of place that seems to do things right. We’ve only been once so far, but will definitely return. As I understand things, the restaurant moved to this location from nearby in January 2025, 3 months ago; so most of the other reviews relate to that older location. This place is decorated simply, no fuss. The owner is very friendly, the waiter (yes, only one waiter was needed when we went, mid-week off-season) was disarmingly casual but did absolutely everything right. The menu is limited, which is often a good sign – this place is not attempting to try to offer everything, just a few traditional dishes freshly prepared and as they should be. So, our food was delicious, served with an effort at making it look pretty. The price was entirely reasonable, and the wine was excellent value too. Top tip: try the café gourmand for dessert. Not only were the small desserts lovely, but the owner and waiter went to some lengths to accommodate an unusual dietary request, which was unexpected and nice of them. So, as I implied at the beginning, they...
Read moreVery friendly staff and the food was tasty and abundant. For lunch that day they had couscous based dish with beef, chicken, sausage and vegetables. Well prepared and delicious. The cook came out shortly after we were served and asked if we wanted extra sauce/broth for the couscous; it was a nice addition, as well. I will say that we asked for a menu and there were strongly encouraged to go with the special. In the end, it was a great choice. As we had our lunch, several other people came in that appeared to be locals; always a good sign. And yes, they all ordered the couscous special. We spent about €35 for the two meals, a pitcher of house rose and...
Read moreWe are Americans who moved to Nice 2-1/2 months ago. Bay Baie is a couple of blocks from our apartment and we usually eat lunch there at least once a week, if not more. The owner is so kind and helpful, letting us practice our French and explaining menu items to us. We feel lucky to have such an affordable restaurant so close, a block off the Promenade des Anglais! The menu is always a delightful surprise: fresh and well prepared. Real cooking! The portions are generous and we don't usually have room for cafe gourmand, but when we've treated ourselves to it, it's worth...
