Any time I end up in Nice, I make sure to pass by L’Ovale. Honestly, the value for money there is hard to beat. Do you love duck? Please do yourself a favor. Try their mouth watering magret or confit, served with perfectly cooked potatoes and of course vegetables, so you don’t feel too guilty indulging! I can’t help myself but to start with their homemade foie gras, one of the very best I’ve had in France. They have that appetizer+entree+dessert menu for 22,90 euros where it’s one of the available starters, best bang for your buck in town. Also, the staff has always given me great and friendly service, almost as if you actually were in a southwestern town. I’ll end this much deserved five stars reviews by mentioning that one thing that struck me from the beginning is how good the music [always] is, the cherry on the sundae for a wonderful experience. I hope you don’t miss them if...

Food was pretty good, and prices are very reasonable. Came for lunch, and they had 2 set menus (3 courses each) which we selected. For each menu, you get a few choices for each of the 3 courses.

For the 22.9 euro menu, we got -fois gras: this was fairly tasty and probably the highlight of the meal. It was a generous serving too -duck castoulon: this was also good, although quite heavy and a little too salty. I did enjoy the duck though -Creme brûlée: underwhelming. Can get better at most places in the US

17.9 menu: -sausage platter: this comes with a lot of meat, but actually it isn't that great. There really are just 2 types of salami type meat. And you don't want to eat too much of that -veal: this was...

I booked a table on their website for tonight. Got a confirmation by SMS and through their website. As we reached the restaurant today all was closed. No sign or information about the closing. No message that they can't hold the reservation. This is no customer service. We had to find a new location for our dinner. Lots of lost time. Edit: No, there was no mail or SMS to cancel the booking. No sign with number at the entrance. Not even a sign that it is closed. No note on their website either. Nothing. This reply from the owner is not true. It's no customer service at all to let ppl sit on their reservation without any note about the closing. Sorry....

You order beef you get steak, you order duck, you get beef steak. I think they only have two general items on the menu with slight variations. Seems to be a family business but unfortunately it’s not very hard to get much better service for the same price in the area. The steak is presented quite well but is gristly, difficult to cut through. The first plate photo I posted was supposed to be duck but beef steak came instead. Didn’t argue with the already non attentive staff. Foie gras is also cold contrary to what the menu says (pan seared)
