The place was pretty okay but there were nuances which don’t make me want to come back. First of all, we were able to pop in without a booking which was great. The tartare itself was also pretty good, and did not take like minced meat like many French tartare do. However, the chips on the side were too oily. The waiting time was also pretty long. The worst part was that crème brule was completely warm and even hot, which did not seem normal - the texture resembled milk that is about to curdle. There odour removal from the kitchen was not effective and since there is no separation of the kitchen and the seating area, our clothes smelled like fish after the dinner. Overall I am sure the owners and the staff are good people and I wish them all the best

Wonderful experience at Le Bistrot de Gillou! We were initially worried about not speaking French, but our server was accommodating and very patient with us. There is a special available as indicated on the menu with red markings. We got the chicken as well as sausage and lentils for our mains. Each was flavorful and cooked perfectly! To drink, I had fresh squeezed orange juice which was definitely fresh. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée, which was cooked to perfection. We sat on the front sidewalk on a lovely day and really enjoyed our late lunch here. Appeared to have several groups of locals inside and out. Would highly recommend and would come back next time we’re in Nice!

We had a wonderful experience at this charming French bistro! The ambience was cozy and homey, making us feel instantly welcomed. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, even speaking some English, which made ordering a breeze. My linguine pasta with tomatoes and parmesan was perfectly seasoned, while my husband’s gambas with rice was bursting with flavor – you could tell they use top-quality ingredients. For dessert, I had the apple crumble—it was warm and crispy, while the apples were so fresh and deliciously tart. With generous portions and fair pricing, it was fantastic value for money.

A Hidden Gem in Nice: Fresh, Homemade Bliss & Heartfelt Hospitality!

We feel so lucky to have discovered La Bistro Gillou. Tucked away in Nice, this charming spot is lovingly run by a devoted husband-and-wife duo, delivering an authentic and unforgettable dining experience.

The food is simply outstanding—every dish bursts with the true flavors of France, crafted from the freshest ingredients and that special touch only homemade cooking can provide.

But what truly sets it apart is the warm, genuine service: you’re welcomed like family, not just another customer. We enjoyed it so much that we returned multiple times during our stay.

If you’re craving a cozy atmosphere, delicious fresh cuisine, and truly personal hospitality, La Bistro Gillou is an absolute...
