Very nice terrace overlooking the bay, however

worst service I encountered for years - particularly from the head waiter. Very rude manners. Although we were clients of the hotel he clearly indicated to me that I was not welcome and denied he had any availability - probably because I was accompanied by my son (age 12), so he might have reasoned I would not do sufficient revenue. (I later found out there were tables available)

When we later returned from dinner at another place we asked for a seating in the outside lounge area - and were again denied seating although the lounge was not even half occupied. (“You can sit inside”). When I asked one guest if we could arrange seating the head waiter was quick to rebuke me that I was not allowed to speak to his guests - as if I was not a guest? In a nutshell - extremely arrogant and unfriendly head waiter - I would avoid spending...

Went for a special family meal on the last night of our holiday, but was ruined by the terrible service received. One of our party did not receive their main course until everyone else had finished theirs, staff deliberately avoided our table and were unapologetic and rude. Once the food had finally arrived the pasta was hard and the vegetables burnt, totally inedible. When we asked for the bill we were met with another further wait. Other food was fine but overpriced €35+ for five prawns and a bit of chopped tomato. The only positive is that the views of villefranche are spectacular.

I hate leaving bad reviews but feel like the 4.1 reviews were misleading.

Positives: great views, good cocktails and service. If we just came for drinks, this would be a 4-star review.

Negatives: the food was very, very bad. We ordered 2 pasta dishes that were swimming in sauce/broth.

What makes this so odd is we had lunch at Paloma Beach (their sister restaurant) and had some of the best sea bream I've ever had. Consistency is very clearly an issue across restaurants. It was incredibly disorienting having an amazing and then terrible meal at 2 restaurants owned by the same group.
