Problem 1 - fries. All three portions of fries were awful. Being brought up in the UK I’ve had many many fries from the cheapest kebabs, but the fries we had at Le Cocodile were by far the worst I’ve ever had in my life. Overly greasy, burnt, insides tasted stale. From experience I thought they must have been old and refried.
Problem 2 - waiter. The fries were so bad that I asked the waiter if there was something wrong with them / old. I asked politely for his honest opinion, he answered rudely. He demanded they were fresh. He even left and came back with a vacuum pack of fries showing they were fresh. Due to language barriers I decided not to continue the discussion. They may be vacuum packed fresh but they were cooked awfully, we genuinely couldn’t eat them.
Problem 3 - dessert. I ordered from the 3 course lunch menu, and at the time of ordering asked for the banana split for dessert. When I had finished my main I asked for my banana split, and was told the kitchen was closed and that all they had was creme brûlée. I can’t even eat creme brûlée! having no options and due to language barriers, I decided not to pursue and I gave it to my husband.
Problem 4 - waiter. when I went to pay the bill, the same waiter went to check the table to make sure we only ordered one bottle of wine. And through broken conversation was asking me whether we indeed only order one bottle - which we had!
Food - 2/5 (except fries which was 0/5) Service - 1/5 (except the very initial waiter who showed us the table and was friendly) Atmosphere - 4/5, nice view of sea...
Read moreOne of our greatest experiences in Nice. Nice and elegant restaurant, the staff has been super kind. We ate the best salmon we had ever tasted and they have lots of choice regarding wine and desserts. We waited very little time to eat, even though the restaurant was full. Almost all of their tables has a view on Promenade des Anglais. The only thing I would have liked to be different would be their choice to not serve white wine (1/4) with a little bit of ice in a bowl, as it was over 30°C and, as many know, white wine needs to be served cold. However, it still is the best evening we spent in Nice, all thanks to the staff. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and they pay lots of attention to details. We spent about 75€ for two people, both red and white wine, two fish dishes and dessert. It's very cheap for the quality and elegance they offer the clients. If we lived nearby, we would absolutely come back, but for sure we will if we ever happen to pass by Nice. Thanks for the amazing experience! They also accept...
Read moreRestaurant opposite the beach, I would say this is a tourist trap. I had three crostini which were fresh and nice: Just incredibly small. I also had a plate of chips, I think they fried a fish in the same oil as the flavour of the chips was disturbing.
I could have managed the food and not bothered leaving a review, but for the exceptionally poor service. The staff were inattentive and rude: spotty teenagers with attitude. Gave me water with no glass, barely said two words to me and put my bill on the table whilst I was eating as if to...
