Le Tchitchou — Restaurant in Nice

This is my first time leaving a review at google.

I usually don’t be bothered by rude owners or bad food but this time i really need to leave this review so that other people won’t have same experience we had.

Staffs( including owner) are racist.

If you are asian, they will treat you horribly with passive aggressive attitude. (the “owner” guy is racist but doesn’t have balls to refuse asian customers, still wants to make money from them so he plays little game by himself.

You can check other reviews. there are many reviews saying they are racist and do this stuff).

We were literally still eating and didn’t finish our food but they came to us 2 times and asked we are done, talked to my french friend with an attitude (lady came to us and asked, we said “no” and she just walked away without saying anything. 2nd time the racist owner asked, 3rd time, he asked again when we finished our dishes, he literally said “ did you guys finally finish this time”)

passive aggressive attitude all the time from the start to the end. Not joking, It happened MANY times. other examples, we were talking if we can sit outside (not even to him, just ourselves) and he said “come on, hurry up, come sit inside”

When we paid, owner said “tap slow” for no reason.

I didn’t know how to tap slow (still don’t know and doesn’t make sense cause i literally put my card to the machine and waited)

Those are the tip off the iceberg

Food Overpriced, mediocre, bland.

Tastes are same as the pasta made by freshman student in college and you’ll pay 18-20 euros.

they put 4 small-midsize shrimps for “Scampi pasta” what a joke.

Fun part is i went there with my White french friend and they even treated her bad. (he was being nice to other tourists from Europe who don’t speak french and french people).

I can’t even imagine how they treat customers bad if they are Asian and don’t speak French.

I’m a tourist don’t even know when i’ll visit to Nice again, don’t give a hoot how much they are racist and playing petty games to only certain race customers.

But i really wanted to share this experience so that people who don’t want to be treated like that can avoid.

Ps. Dear owner/staffs Hats off to you guys being small-minded and racist. You guys...

Very poor customer care from people who run this restaurant. First of all, there was water falling from the ceiling, and the owner didn’t say sorry, but just moved the table a few centimeters, which wasn’t enough. The food was just average quality, but the very poor experience happened at the payment: the cashier was saying that the POS was out of service and so the only way to pay was cash, never apologizing. We didn’t have enough cash, so we offered to do an immediate bank transfer but she refused it and forced us to go to an ATM and get the cash. We had to waste our time to find an ATM and pay the commission for a foreign withdrawal. We were so annoyed that we asked for a small discount (6€ out of 86€, less than 7% of the bill) for the inconvenience caused, and instead of apologizing or trying to negotiate an even smaller discount, the owners started arguing saying that the POS being out of service is not their responsibility and it wasn’t their fault at all and if we didn’t pay 100% of the bill, then they would have called the police. I replied saying that at least they had to show a message saying “POS out of service, only cash accepted”, and the owner replied saying that the out of service started while we were having dinner. Then, since the POS was on, we said we wanted to try to pay those 6€ with card and they prepared the POS acting like they were sure the transaction would have failed, but of course it worked. In the end, we found out that all this crazy show was made just to avoid to pay taxes and credit card commissions… In 2025 this kind of scams is...

We were recommended by the hotel that we were staying at. Visited the place with high hopes only to be disappointed. First time experiencing such French service in france, every server was unhappy, didn’t really want to serve you or recommend anything, just wanted you to eat and go. They didn’t want to speak to you in anything but french and asked if you wanted an english menu in french lol?

Some tables had free prosecco, some didn’t especially if you ordered wine. The table beside us were given but they didn’t drink it after 15mins and the server went to ask them if it was because they didn’t drink alcohol and wanted to take it away but they said they wanted to have it after their meal and the server walked away unhappily. If you are going to give something to guests, does it matter when they drink it?

Food was ok, nothing special, overheard the same comments from the tables beside. The moment you complete your meal or your partner does, they will take your plate and immediately pass you the bill (without you asking) - go read other comments. The table beside- his partner completed her dinner but he was still halfway through it, and the server wanted to clear it.

I am sure you can find better service elsewhere for traditional nicoise food, i would rather pay more than for a bad evening with...
