Avoid this place unless you want to overpay for underwhelming food.
We were misled by the restaurant’s “good” rating. While we suspected some reviews might be fake, hunger and a lack of available options nearby led us to give this place a try. Unfortunately, it was a decision we regretted.
The moment I saw the food being served to a neighboring table and looked at the menu, I had a bad feeling. I wish we had left right then.
Service: It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive—just a bowl of beef soup (likely using a premade base) and a broccoli and shrimp dish. The delay wasn’t due to complexity but a lack of sufficient staff and poor management. With only one chef in the kitchen, they struggled to handle even a few tables.
Value for Money: In the Nice, France area, you can generally get a hearty portion of protein, carbs, and vegetables for €18–€25. For two people, €40–€45 can usually buy a satisfying meal at a decent restaurant. Not here.
The beef soup cost €24 but came with barely 2 ounces of thinly sliced meat. It wasn’t remotely filling. Other menu items were similarly overpriced for what they offered. You’d get far better food, quality, and quantity elsewhere.
Food Quality: As someone Chinese, I know my cuisine. The spicy beef soup was passable, but only because of the heavy use of MSG—not quality cooking.
The broccoli and shrimp dish was the breaking point. It arrived with just two pieces of shrimp—and they weren’t even whole! The kitchen had split a single shrimp in half. When I pointed this out to the staff, the server apologized and claimed the kitchen had run out of shrimp. However, she wouldn’t have admitted this if I hadn’t raised the issue.
The Bill: To make matters worse, they offered just a €1 discount on the dish, bringing its price to €14.50. Their excuse? The broccoli dish without shrimp is priced at €13.50, so they argued this was “fair.” This reasoning was absurd. Had we been told they were out of shrimp, we wouldn’t have ordered the dish at all.
Conclusion: This was a waste of time and money. I could’ve had a better, healthier, and tastier meal at home that would have taken me 10 Minutes to cook—and even instant noodles would’ve been less salty and packed with fewer additives.
Avoid this place at all costs. You’re better off at any Chinese/Asian fast food spot or a different...
Read moreI'm really totally stunned by the good reviews here. And that's why we chose this Chinese restaurant. Plus it was the nearest to our hotel. Never have I been to any restaurant that made me want to review immediately after I walk out from their restaurant. Where do I start? Firstly, we were in a group of 2. Joining another table who ordered just 5 mins before us. Who were clearly Chinese in a group of 4 persons. We wanted to try their Sichuan food, thus ordering the Spicy Chicken 辣子鸡 and Sauerkraut Fish 酸菜鱼. While the restaurant was clearly not busy, they left the main door opened. The restaurant was stuffy. Ventilation obviously was lacking as the heavy cooking smell was so bad my clothes smells. After about 15 mins, our order for the Spicy Chicken was finally served. Was wanting to wait for the other dish before taking a photo of it together. But decided we should actually start digging in. And thank god we did! We were served our rice and we started eating. Halfway we thinking hmm we would not have enough rice to pair with the fish coming up. So we slow down to wait. After 20 mins, our patience was starting to dwindle. Maybe it takes time to cook a "special dish" but seriously how can it take so long to appear? While I sent a chaser, the Cambodian staff (who was very nice) told me that it's on its way. It's coming. 3 mins later nothing. Then 8 mins I asked again, to be told they have not even started to cook it! How on earth would a Chinese restaurant be able to handle just a table of 4 and a table of 2 and yet taking so long? Then you'll realize a group of 5 French people after us strolled in. (After our Chicken dish served) Were being served food on their table! So now we know. Being Singaporean in a city with good, bad, slow or fast food. Travelling the world in other parts of France, Italy or Switzerland for Chinese food. I have never experienced "slow food" like this. Never have I been so disappointed to the sense of disgust. To make things worst, the Spicy chicken tasted worst then KFC's popcorn Chicken. Spent €24 on a dinner for 2 which was 30% filled. But 100% dissatisfied. Avoid this place. Try at...
Read moreTraveling with my parents for a while now, we found ourselves craving Asian food after days of indulging in rich French and Italian cuisine.
I came across this place on Google Maps while searching for something that would satisfy both my family’s longing and my own particular taste—because when it comes to food, I’m incredibly picky. I’d honestly rather skip a meal than eat something that doesn’t taste good.
After checking out several Chinese and Asian restaurants in Nice, this one stood out with consistently great reviews. That’s really not easy thing to do for the restaurant to keep good reviews in a big, transit city like this.
If you’re someone who appreciates authentic, soulful, good portion of nourishing food with a homemade touch, I recommend this spot without hesitation!!
I truly believe food reflects the heart of the person who prepares it—and you can taste the kindness, sincerity, and wholeheartedness of the chef-owner in every dish here(oh yes, I haven’t tried all their dishes here but once you take a bite, you’ll feel it too: he genuinely enjoys cooking, and it shows.
Just so you know—I rarely leave reviews on Google (honestly, I’m too lazy). But my whole family genuinely loved it, so I wanted to share my appreciation for this place. And personally, I truly hope more genuine places like this thrive in...
