Restaurant le Bard’o — Restaurant in Nice

I came upon this restaurant last night while looking for a place to eat dinner with a view. I did not look up the restaurant prior to coming, and I solely picked it based on the view of the port and the friendly waiter (I really wish I got his name). I'm so glad I took a chance because this was truly a gem.

Staff service was amazing and the food was delightful. I had never had escargot before but I was feeling adventurous. It was delicious and now I'm hooked! As it was my first time, the waiter took the time to explain how to eat it and he checked on me throughout to make sure if I was ok or if I needed help. I really appreciated it! I had the seafood plate for my main dish (salmon, seabream, octopus, prawn, mashed potatoes, veggies, salad) which was super tasty. I had a few glasses of rosé and at the end of the meal the waiter brought me a small glass of limoncello on the house, I was a happy girl!

As I was finishing up with the bill, the waiter asked where I was from and I told him I was from California and he smiled and said "ahhh California dreaming." Right after that, he went back inside the restaurant and then 2Pac's "California Love" started blaring from the speakers. I don't know if that was intentional but it surely made my night!

Honestly It wasn’t my plan to be here cuz we wanted to go to the restaurants in town but cuz we were rly hungry and those ones haven’t open so we changed our plan - turns out it’s one of the most right choice I made during the trip.

Nice view, barely any tourists, clear harbor view, also they have pina colada (very important for me!!) big portions of food, me and my mom were shocked with the amount of starter we got for sharing with very reasonable prices, big shrimps and actual big slices of octopus legs inside my pasta. Nice service too, the owner has the humor and he went to get our baguette on his scooter that was hilarious.

My friends and I had the time of our life here! When we sat down it was empty but we saw the good reviews and immediately felt good energy from the first interaction with the two waiters, so we stuck with it, and thankfully we did!

We had a Friday night dinner with suggestion du jour (moules & saumon) and ended up staying for almost 3 hours enjoying the food, the stunning port view and the wine.

To top it all off, Karim took care of us with excellent service throughout the entire night, made us laugh, truly reminded us what good service looks like and gave us a digestif and birthday drink on the house.
