Let me be clear: this is my first-ever 1-star review, and I give it with absolute certainty. Bistrot Aldo is not just disappointing—it is an outright fraud, and you should know this before wasting your time and money here.
The setting is deceptively pleasant, but the moment you sit down, the deceit begins. We booked through The Fork, a reservation app, and were stunned to discover a massive discrepancy between the prices advertised on the app and those on the restaurant’s actual menu. Had we not prepaid €50 through the app, we would have walked out immediately and avoided this entire debacle.
But let me give you the specifics. A bottle of Côtes du Rhône was listed at €19 on The Fork; at the restaurant, it was €25. The mixed cheese and charcuterie board, advertised at €18, was suddenly €26.90. That’s nearly a €10 increase on a single dish! While the escargots were the only item priced as advertised (€7.90), the damage had already been done. What should have been a cozy evening of good wine, escargots, and charcuterie turned into an exercise in damage control.
Out of principle, we spent exactly the €50 prepaid and nothing more. We ordered a single charcuterie board and a bottle of wine—two items that quickly made it clear this establishment doesn’t care about quality, only about scamming unsuspecting customers.
Now, about the food: The mixed board was one of the smallest and least impressive we’ve had in Paris. The salami was barely edible, the rest of the charcuterie followed suit in mediocrity, and the cheeses were entirely forgettable. Nothing on that plate justified the outrageous price. It was an insult to both the concept of French cuisine and to us as paying customers.
As for the staff, they tried their best, but it’s impossible to shine under a management that clearly prioritizes swindling over service. There’s no effort to create a memorable dining experience, only to extract as much money as possible from unsuspecting patrons.
And then there’s the broader issue: the reviews and photos online paint a much better picture of this place than reality does. It makes you wonder if some of them are, let’s say, “curated.” At the very least, it’s something for others to investigate before trusting those glowing endorsements.
What’s worse is that, in our original plan, we intended to order three portions of escargots, two bottles of wine, and one or two charcuterie boards. That would have cost us nearly €28 more than we had anticipated due to their fraudulent pricing. Imagine the audacity of profiting off such blatant dishonesty.
In conclusion, Bistrot Aldo is a place to avoid at all costs. The pleasant facade hides a business model that’s designed to deceive. The quality of the food doesn’t come close to justifying the prices, and the management’s lack of integrity ruins what could have been a decent experience.
Rating: 1/5 Aldo Bistrot doesn’t deserve your time, your money, or your trust. Let this serve as a warning: if you value honesty and quality,...

Read moreBefore our train out of Paris we decided to have dinner in this restaurant. It was the perfect choice as it offered typical french cuisine foods, the ambience was very good, not crowded, enjoyable background music, nice indoors. We tried the escargots and onion soup as entrance which were amazing beyond expectations, and as main plate the duck and entrecot. Both dishes were very good, with the meat in the exact point we asked for, the fries in a perfect crisp and the salade with a perfect original sauce. The staff was very bright, smiling, helpful and even provided the sauce recipe with pleasure. At the end, a very tasteful amarato shot was offered. We noticed the same at the other tables. Always in our disposal with a smille in the face. Able to feel the room, either by making conversation or by leaving us to enioy by ourselves. The location is very convenient as it is very close to the Nord station by foot. Totally recommend, the perfect Paris goodbye :)
Note: We reserved it at “the Fork” as “La Grande Brasserie” but then it turns out it was this restaurant so it was a bit confusing to find it before asking the bistro staff for...
