DO NOT BOOOK THIS HOTEL!!! If I were to write ALL of the reasons not to book this place, it would be a novel so instead I will list what is wrong.|1. I booked a single bed room that looked like it hadn’t been touched since 1974. The floor had holes throughout merely covered by carpet. When I mentioned this o front desk and asked for a room with a floor without holes, she told me that all of the rooms had floors like this because it’s an old building but that I should be fine because the holes are covered by carpet. 🤨. When I called my booking agent, and they contacted the hotel, she agreed to move me to a double room that, surprise, surprise, had newer laminate floors with no holes! Side note: I am at the beginning of a 2 month journey across Europe and didn’t want to suffer a sprained or broken ankle from the dangerous floors. |2. Front desk staff (specially an older woman of Indian descent) is not very friendly nor accommodating.|3. The sink in bathroom is too small so anytime you use it, water spills all over front cabinet and floor, which is probably why bathroom smells moldy (in newer room).|4. TripAdvisor site says hotel is air conditioned but it IS NOT.|5. There are a series of stairs you have to take before getting to lift (elevator). On each floor, there are 3 steps you have to lug your bags up and down in order to use the TINY lift. Large bags will not fit in this lift. It is sooooo small. And after struggling to get your bags up the stairs, its nearly impossible to fit them in the lift. Also, this hotel is not wheelchair accessible.|6. You have to leave your key with front desk whenever you leave the hotel…that’s just weird. And what if they went on a toilet break, then I can’t get buzzed into the front lobby nor go up to my room. ||Overall, my stay at this hotel has been one of the worst hotel stays of my life. I have traveled all over the US, Mexico, Caribbean, China, and Europe so that statement comes with experience. If I had not been able to switch from my original room, I likely would have preferred to sleep in the train station rather than stay there. ||The hotel owners obviously do not care about the upkeep of this hotel or their guests. Learn from my mistake and just book somewhere else, even if it is just...
Read moreThe rating given isn’t fair on the hotel to be honest. It’s a budget hotel right next to Gare d’lest, a busy bus hub and shops, bars and restaurants|It’s location is excellent as is the price.|The rooms were a decent size and clean though they were dated and could use a bit of modernisation. We had a triple room with 3 single beds and for me they were too short (I’m 6,4) and lost the fight for only firm pillows the shower worked well and the bathroom was cleaned every day and the windows when closed did an excellent job of keeping the noise out (more about that later)|We had read some of the reviews about rude staff and filthy rooms and wondered if they had been somewhere else as we experienced none of that, in fact the staff were really friendly and helpful |We only had breakfast once (by choice by the way) it was very basic continental but all the places around offering breakfast had exactly the same choices (but were actually cheaper) the French don’t do big breakfasts we didn’t care as the croissants were fresh and the coffee was nice|There was a shop across the road as well as restaurants on both sides of the road and a Burger King plus within 100 yards in all directions lots of places to eat |We ended up eating in the green fronted restaurant across from the hotel the 1st nice and the one under the hotel (and to the left as you come out) with the red front. The food in the green fronted one was far superior and perhaps one of the best steaks I’ve ever had but the staff in the red fronted one were much much friendlier and the atmosphere was amazing, it helped that the weather was stunning and we were sat outside|Note the fact of its location means it is a very busy and therefore very noisy area (I cannot stress enough how noisy it is all day and all night. 3 nights running there were locals shouting at the top of their voices for hours on end and that caused the thing that lets the hotel down.|The rooms are very warm and there is no air conditioning so you have to make a choice swear to death or have no sleep because of the noise|It’s a busy area and we understood that and knew it wasn’t the hotels fault but those sleepless or uncomfortable nights...
