This restaurant was fantastic! We arrived around 7 in the evening and chose a table outside. I asked the waitress if she spoke English and she said what sounded like 'a little bit' in French. We mostly communicated via pointing to stuff on the menu, which was all in French, but I translated it rather crudely through an app.
My boyfriend got himself a glass of red wine which he loved, and I got a drink called limonade or something similar. It was kind of like a less carbonated, sweeter Sprite. Not cloyingly sweet, it seemed like a different sweetener than what is used in Sprite. It was delicious, and I ended up getting two. My boyfriend ordered himself a burger as well. He lamented at how utterly American it was of him, but said that it was what he really craved. It ended up being absolutely delicious. We split it, I think it was called the BG burger or OG burger, something like that. It was perfectly medium rare without my even specifying it, and it had a good sauce and a nice cheese bread as a bun.
For desert, I saw a reviewer say that they had a great lava cake, so we ordered that and a glass of whiskey for my boyfriend. There was hardly any whiskey in the glass, and it was way overpriced, but the lava cake was pretty good. All in all I give this restaurant 4.6 stars. Stay away from the straight spirits - I can't speak for the cocktails, but the straight liquor was definitely overpriced. Great wine and food, we will...
Read moreif I could put less I would… …honestly shocked first of all we’re seated all smiles and all at first well welcomed then they decide to change our seats because another table of two is coming (we were two). ok fine!’ then he’s like I will offer you a second drink or dessert no worries we order the plat du jour which he claims is “amazing” the saint jacques were honestly the worst I’ve had ever and they were drenched in some weird citrusy sauce that actually killed the taste of the saint jacques (which defeats the whole point) and the side accompanying “risotto” was not even a risotto (?!!) it was overcooked tasteless rice…
I tell them, the guy gets pissed instead of apologizing while the other waiter admits it’s tasteless…
he gets me a “purée” instead with also barely any taste, fine I say nothing
then instead of offering us something as promised (drink/dessert) bc of the change in seating (so expected even more so of a gesture but nope full bill and sarcastic smile)
it’s a shame bc the place itself is nice!
anyhow it’s a shame bc one of the waiters was really mean and disrespectful
oh and to top it all off… I got a bad reflux and stomach cramps right after and threw up… so honestly idk what else to say other than avoid the disappointment
——————————————— update 2 hrs later: threw up non stop and diarrhea (sorry for tmi) but I literally got food poisoned!!! dk whether it was the scallops or...
Read more4.5 stars The restaurant is walking distance to our hotel which is near the Gare de Lyon metro station. We were looking to have our last meal before leaving Paris and found this restaurant on Google reviews (Yelp is not big in Paris apparently).
The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 7pm but by the time we left the inside seating was full with mostly locals which is always a good sign.
The owner (I assume) greeted us and was super nice e recommended dishes to order. We used google camera to translate the french menu into English so we have some idea what we are getting. We ended up getting the tiny ravioli (must order), beef cheeks with pasta and crispy pork with potatoes. We also ordered appetizers which included smoke salmon, escargot on pastry and ham (all comes with small salad). Everything was flavorful and delicious. We ended with a mix of dessert without coffee and the owner gave my kids ice cream for free. They also have a kids meal with comes with juice, pasta with ham and ice cream for 12 euros. Not super pricey for nice quality meal. They (and everywhere else) take credit card.
Edit: April 2025 - Appears the restaurant has changed to anew name. Not entirely sure if it’s the same menu or owner as Les Garnements - which is reflective of my...
