This is authentic African cuisine in a super intimate (~14 seats), clean restaurant off the busy Rue Suez , where you will squeeze in and share a table with other diners if you eat in. Or you can order for takeout. If you’re lucky enough to eat in, it feels like you’re having a wonderful meal with your extended African family cooked by your loving African Grandmother! People are sanitizing hands and literally digging in to their amazing dishes. You can eat with your hands as is the African tradition. You’re so close that you feel obliged to share dishes and small talk. In fact, one gentleman was so kind, he insisted that I share his beef and cassava leaf stew over rice before my own food came. I did and it was wonderful! I knew my dish was going to be equally fantastic when it arrived. All the dishes are cooked to order and with care. You’ll wait about 5-15 minutes for your food, depending on what and how much you’ve ordered. Grab a beverage, squeeze into an available seat and relax or wait outside the door. I ordered the Attiéké poisson and plantain. A whole well seasoned crispy, moist fish that was cooked to perfection and served with couscous and a tomato, cucumber salad in what I believe is a yogurt, olive oil and herbs base for $10 euros. The plantain was a lovely addition for $5 euros. The portions are large and can easily feed 2. My dish was so delicious, I managed to eat it all! This was one of the best meals I’ve had in Paris this time. And the price is outstanding: $15 euros! I highly recommend visiting Eat Africa! A lot of diners were also ordering a seafood stew with rice. It looked amazing! I will try that dish tomorrow!...
Read moreThis place has the kindest and most welcoming service. The lady waiting on me helped guide me through the menu and select which options I should get. After selecting, I remembered to ask if they took credit card, because I'd run into that situation once before. She said no, it was cash only, but she'd go get the food anyway, and was gone back into the kitchen before I had an opportunity to argue and say I'll go get some cash first. She spoke English, but I typed out the situation in French in Google translate just to make sure there wasn't a miscommunication. She said it was fine like she was just happy to show off their delicious food.
And the food! It was sooooo good, and there was a ton of it. Great portions. I got a dish that was fish and rice and onions and it was sensational. Wonderfully seasoned. Also, the hibiscus juice is incredible.
After I left, I did run to go to the closest ATM and get cash to return and pay. When I returned though she was still insisting that it was okay, but I was the one who made the mistake (there was even a sign at the front that I didn't see when I first walked in), so I had to make it right for my own peace of mind.
The food is sensational, and the service is tremendous. It would be a mistake for anyone to miss out on this gem.
Oh, Google maps wasn't updated on street view for me. I believe there was a different place there before. The Indian restaurant is on the other side of the street, and they have a big sign you can see if you're trying to figure out which...
Read moreExtremely delicious food which makes me wants to lick the dish clean!! Must try their Mafa, very tender meat cooked in a very appetitive peanut sauce, this is real soul food! The dessert also is surprisingly great! The restaurant is not big but decorations are trendy and has a TV playing African music videos which gives a good vibe to the place. Definitely recommended for any Non-Africans who wish to try African food! Staffs do speaks English so there's no worries for communication problems. By far this is the best African...
