I definitely don't recommend this hotel!
Disappointing Experience at Hotel Angleterre in Paris I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Hotel Angleterre, and I must say it was a highly disappointing and unpleasant stay. This review aims to highlight several issues that greatly affected my overall experience at the hotel.
Cleaning: Hotel and rooms are very old and dirty. They never changed the sheets during your 5-day stay. Even though we reported the situation, they only made the bed without changing the sheets. There was a strange musty smell in the room. All the stairs, corridors and rooms were moldy and smelly because of the old parquet flooring. You can see on the pictures.
Location: The location is close to the metro and the center but a little tricky. The place where the hotel is located is not safe at all. Those who will go out, especially in the evening, should be very careful. The area is a place full of homeless people, drug dealers and many other illegal things. You are stopped by at least 5 people at the entrance and exit of the subway. It is impossible to sleep at night because of street fights and noise until the morning. The streets are full of rubbish, dirt and smell.
Reception: The people sitting at the reception are only responsible for handing you the keys. From the first arrival, no explanation was given, they only focused on money and the only thing they think about is money. When we asked for an invoice, they said there was no invoice and did not give it. The next day they brought a handwritten piece of paper showing what we were paying for.
Price: Thishotel that does not deserve its price in any way. You do not receive any service for the money you pay. It is very easy to find a very nice Airbnb or hotel in safer areas for the same price.
Rooms: The only thing you can find in the rooms is a bed and a TV. No facility has been added. Despite the high price you pay, the only thing you will get is toilet paper and disposable shampoo in a plastic bag. Also, the rooms are smaller than what appears in the pictures and it was impossible to even open...
Read moreReview of Hotel Monday 1- Friday 5 July 2024. My sister and I arrived at the hotel, having arrived in Paris at Gare Du Nord train station on the Eurostar train from London St.Pancras International, which is a short walk away from the hotel. At the reception desk was one of two very helpful receptionists, Riyad, who booked us into our hotel room, number 49, on the fifth floor of the hotel, (thankfully there was a lift, that was working), and gave my sister the room key, he also gave us a tourist map, which had three smaller maps, a street map of the local area of Paris where the hotel was, a map of the Paris Metro, which showed the nearest Metro stations to the hotel, and a map of the local bus stops, in the area of the hotel, all of which Riyad highlighted for us, later on we met Riyad's colleague, Salim, who was also very helpful to us.
We used the hotel as a base, to go out and do the things that tourists do, namely see the sights of Paris, and we found the Metro easy to use, (as we had our tourist map,it was easy for us) if you are planning a trip to Paris, be prepared to do a lot of walking around, fortunately for us while we were there, we had the right weather, it was warm during the day, and it rained in the evenings/night-time.
On this occasion, I have one little observation, our room in the hotel was a little on the small side, however there was room for one double bed, which we managed with, but there was no electric kettle in the room, so if you are used to making cups of coffee or tea, in your hotel room(assuming that there is an electric kettle in the room to start with) and you want to come to this hotel, bring a travel kettle with you.
Overall our time in the hotel was good and we will come back...
Read moreI had the misfortune of booking a triple room for 4 nights to go with my 2 children at the beginning of February 2024. We arrived at night, and they charged me the full accommodation amount. However, when we went up to the room, we found a space with 3 very small beds stuck together with no space between them and no room in the entire space to move around without bumping into things or place suitcases. It was impossible to consider that a triple room. But the worst part was an unbearable tobacco smell that filled the small room and the bathroom. I immediately complained at the front desk, and they told me that the hotel was fully booked that night and that they would try to solve the problem the next morning. We slept as best as we could, and the next morning, we just wanted to leave. I asked for a refund for the remaining 3 nights to find another place, but they refused. They told me to send an email to the absent hotel manager (the first time I've ever seen something like that). We went for a walk for a couple of hours, waiting for the manager's response, but he never replied. Upon return, at the front desk, they informed me that the manager had said they couldn't change my room that night either, and I should stay one more night, and they would see the next day if I could move. However, it was impossible for them to refund the money for the remaining nights. Outrageous. Never seen before. have traveled extensively and stayed in hundreds of hotels of varying quality, but for the first time in my life, I had to leave one due to its terrible condition and service. And on top of that, I was scammed, and they never refunded the money for the 3 nights I didn't stay. Avoid it. Don't even...
