Gumbo Yaya — Restaurant in Paris

I honestly don’t know how this place is so highly rated! Shocking experience. They only have 4 tables inside, so was told 30 min wait. We had just paid for an Uber to get there so thought we will just wait. 1 hour later still waiting in the rain. To then be seated at a garden table and chairs. The table wasn’t even big enough to put the plates on. When getting inside the place looked very unclean and was starting to regret coming here and waiting so long. Our food came and it looked all very basic. But we had seen the photos so was just hoping it was going to taste great. As lots of the reviews said food was great. But it wasn’t. Waffles were tasteless, chicken breast had such a weird taste! Didn’t taste like chicken. The only good thing was the maple syrup but the amount given wasn’t a lot at all. We love chicken and waffles and tried lots of places. This place was the worst. I don’t understand the reviews saying these chicken and waffles are best in Paris 🥴 I’m guessing these people haven’t eaten chicken and waffles elsewhere. Mac and cheese was ok but just nothing amazing. And it baffles me that they haven’t put an outside awning with outside heaters and lots of table and chairs because there’s lots of space, seeing as inside is so small. If this was the highlight of your trip to Paris as it says in other reviews, you’ve had a really bad trip as this will be a memorably bad lowlight of our trips for many years to come. Avoid until...

I'm going to have to give them a 1. If there was a -1option they would receive it. Unfortunately, this was my mother and I first time at this restaurant visiting from the States. We were with the first crowd there to be seated. We sat next to a wonderful French couple in which we had a great conversation with. Long story short they took everyone's order and served everyone around us but US. It took us almost 3 hours to receive our food. Mind you, the place is only open for 3 hours in the evening for dinner. We came at 7:30. Left at 10:00pm. The guy had the nerve to take 1 euro off of our bill. I said what time do you close? He said 10:30. I looked at the clock and after that he said ok, you don't have to pay for the bill. My mom and I immediately left. I've never in my life been on a vacation where we had to wait for food that long. Not only that people that were walking in after us got served within 20 minutes!! We could not believe it. I will never visit this place again. I feel we got discriminated. The other places we visited in Paris was amazing. Got our food fast!! Thanks for the first worst experience for my birthday weekend !!! I'm so glad it wasn't on...

Well well well. That was delicious. I am a proud Georgia Southern Girl, born and raised! I must say that this place has some good fried chicken. It is fried a little different ( the batter is thicker) than we do it where I am from but it was still very very good. Now, I gave 5 stars but there were some things that was as perfect as 5 stars. The place says it open at 12. We arrive about 12:15 we were told to wait outside until 12:30. It a heat wave right now in Paris! They didnt have mac and cheese or sweet tea. It is on the menu but they didnt have it. The waitress wasnt ... well nevermind she was quite "French" in her service. Dont get your hopes ups there. There was WAY too much butter on the waffle! Drinks and water was cool at best. Not cold.

With all that said, The owner did speak to everyone once he arrived and seem very friendly. The price was amazing, I would have paid twice as much for the same food.
