L'Age d'Or — Restaurant in Paris

Went here with a colleague for lunch, after getting the impression it was really popular for happy hour.

Prices are incredibly high, and the food is terrible. I ordered a lamb special, and the meat was so fatty that I literally choked on it three times trying to swallow it before finally spitting it out. This restaurant has made me want to become a vegetarian. Although apparently the veggie burger was also bad, according to my colleague.

Service was also terrible: it was several minutes before we even got menus, and many more minutes until someone arrived to take our order (long after people next to us, who sat down later, had ordered).

On the plus side, other people like it, so there's probably just something wrong with me... As long as you don't get anything either with meat or vegetables, and don't care how much you pay, you'll...

I just came back from l'Age d'or. Drinks were fine, actually good, but the food was among the worst experiences I've ever had. In my fish and chips, they added some salad. By the side of the salad, there was a tablespoon of a brown spread. I initially thought it was olive spread, and I tasted it, just to discover it was dirt. Ground dirt, as if taken from a garden, in my plate, by the salad. I can accept a little bit of dirt, even a small worm, as an accident on a hushed side salad, it was a full freaking tablespoon of spread dirt. I called the waiter and they changed my dish in a quite natural way, no real apology, a bizarre indifference to the incident. They charged full amount for the dish, and I cannot more forcefully advise you NOT to go to this bar. Except if you...

This charming little bar, right at the border of Chinatown, is a good stop both for a drink and something to eat. The interior is arranged with taste. Bright walls adorn the front section, with cheerfully colorful chairs and tables. The back is cozier, and has fun curiosities on display in open cupboards. The place is always buzzing. A young, stylish crowd of students, and those a little older, are the usual visitors. Families drop in, too, for lunch, brunch or dinner.
