La Garçonnière — Restaurant in Paris

This bistro seems to have changed hands since last I was here. A real disapprovement. The grilled beef was as tough as old leather, despite the obvious efforts made to tenderise it. The kind of meat that should be slow cooked in a sauce into softness and taste, not grilled. The chips/fries tasted precooked and heated up but certainly not freshly prepared. The glass of Rhone wine was of the lowest quality, without the fruitiness or complexity of a good Rhone wine. The chocolate desert was tasteless. Booked this after looking at their instagram account, which looks great (yes, yes, one should do one’s homework before deciding, lesson learned). Don’t know if the regular chef was on holiday, or if it was the normal standard for the place, but… It was not the presentation from the pictures, medium was well done and tastewise it was sub-par. Delicious food and great service, been here twice and both times I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff. A little bit pricey but that is to be expected for the area. During the summer they put a full outdoor seating area and sometimes show football games.
