Le Truffaut — Restaurant in Paris

We booked for lunch at 12.30pm on the Terrace on a Wednesday June 2025 👍

But as it was a very hot day and the sun was still out and no shade was available, we asked for a table inside and they were happy to gratefully accommodate us 👍

All dishes were very well cooked, tasty and a change to normal French Bistro food 👍

Starter - Japanese Eggplant with Celery and at least 2 sauces that were delightful to eat 😃

Mains - Cucumber Salad with French Beans, Onions, Eggs, Parmesan Cheese and a dressing Pork Belly, with Spinach, Boiled Potatoes and a tomato and ginger sauce on the side.

Both dishes went down very well with the pair of us and plates were cleared 😃

Desserts- Charlotte aux Fraises - a very soft tasty sponge, 🧽 top and bottom with cream and strawberry 🍓 filling 👍 Chocolate Mousse,Praline - very tasty with a caramel hinted sauce and crunchy bits, once again the kitchen will not be troubled with clearing any thing from the dishes 👍

Service was helpful, light in touch and excellent to provide us with the information we required to make our choices from the menu 👍

Can’t comment on the wine 🍷 we only had the food 😃

Our visit to La Truant left much to be desired, as our anticipation for a great dining experience quickly turned into disappointment. From the moment we stepped into the venue, it became evident that he may have chosen poorly.

The first letdown was the staff's demeanor, disinterested and uninformed.

Moreover, the ambiance of the restaurant did not lend itself well to a romantic date night. The place was overly bright, lacking the cozy and romantic Parisian date night.

However, the most disappointing aspect of our evening was the food. I opted for the vegetarian option, only to be presented with a plate of unremarkable vegetables accompanied by a lackluster romesco sauce. The dish lacked creativity, depth of flavor, and was something I could have knocked up at home I'm a couple of minutes.

Conclusion, our visit to La Truffault was marked by underwhelming staff, an ambiance ill-suited for a romantic evening, and food that failed to excite anything. We left without finishing our mains… and headed to a different restaurant! I was...

After reading reviews and looking forward to a valentine’s visit we were extremely disappointed with our visit. We found the wine waiter a little rude after we didn’t like his recommendation and very inattentive afterwards. The starters were very nice and then there was a wait of 30mins before our main courses arrived Beef and Lamb. The meat of both dishes was completely inedible- beef so chewy you couldn’t eat and lamb just a ball of fat and bones. The waiter came to pick up the plates and commented on the uneaten meats- we told him why and he agreed the meat was inedible and said it was the fault of a bad batch from the supplier and a couple of customers had the same experience….. however no offer of compensation was offered and a full bill arrived despite the apologies of the waiter.
