Gaston — Restaurant in Paris

I went to Gaston in the Batignolles with my family, and we had a good evening together. The place itself feels relaxed, not too fancy but comfortable, and the staff kept things moving without being over the top. We started with the escargot, done in tempura rather than the usual way, which made them light and crispy and a bit unexpected. We arrived for dinner without a reservation, but we were sat promptly at a good table. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, the escargot & bone marrow appetizers, the steak with potatoes, and burger with french fries, ending the meal with the rum baba. The bone marrow was Amazing, like butter on bread! The escargot was delicious in the sauce. The burger was cooked perfectly, you can really tell they take great pride in the burger. And the steak was very good - I ordered it medium rare, but should have ordered it medium like they suggested. Gaston hadn't been recommended to us, it was simply close by our hotel, so we booked. Honestly, I can't rate this place highly enough. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. But the best compliment I can give the restaurant, is for the food, which was out of this world. Possibly, the best steak I have ever eaten. Really.....THAT good. If you are looking for a nice, not overly fancy (and I mean that as a compliment), excellent quality restaurant, book at Gaston. You won't regret it 👌
