Our first dinner in Paris was at Funambule, and it could not have been more wonderful. We stumbled upon it by accident while looking for another spot that was closed—August in Paris, I suppose—and it turned out to be the happiest twist of fate.
Craving potatoes, I ordered the duck confit with new potatoes, while the rest of our family of four enjoyed a beautifully prepared aubergine dish and two delicious chicken plates for the kids. Everything was muah! The new potatoes were so perfect they nearly brought tears to my eyes, and the Dijon mustard was unlike any I’ve had before—sharp, smooth, and unforgettable. The wine was silky smooth The plates were artfully presented, the flavors impeccable, and the service spot-on. The servers were warm and welcoming, even though we speak no French.

The staff tried really hard to translate and make suggestions for the kids and we all tried some delicious French food, some with a Asian infusion.
