I love walking the streets of Belleville, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It takes you away from the stifling atmosphere that Paris sometimes exudes. It's like walking through the streets of a village, where everyone knows everyone else. Les Mésanges is part of Belleville's history. It retains the simplicity of the bar-restaurants of my childhood, the ones you go to at any time and are sure to find a friend or neighbor to talk to.
