New Locomotive — Restaurant in Paris

New Locomotive is an excellent Vietnamese resto, offering what has to be considered one of the three best bowls of pho to be had in all of Paris. Other great plates can be had as well, and all at prices that are almost frighteningly low. Attention, fraîcheur non garantie ! J'avais fait un détour spécialement car ce restaurant apparaît dans un bon polar ("Arab Jazz") vantant leur crêpe vietnamienne. J'ai pris à emporter un midi. L'intérieur est vieillot mais l'accueil a été plutôt sympathique malgré le rush. Dans un premier temps, j'ai été déçue par les saveurs, assez plates (sauf la crêpe elle-même, croustillante et parfumée). J'ai voulu finir le lendemain matin le deuxième plat resté pourtant au réfrigérateur... mais les boulettes de viande avaient un goût de pourri !!! (Sans compter la mauvaise surprise en fin de digestion.) Grand dommage car le prix n'est pas particulièrement bon marché.

Ce quartier de la Chapelle (en pleine transformation, notamment vers le complexe salle de spectacles-boutiques-gymnase de la rue Pajol) bénéficie heureusement de plusieurs restaurants autour de la halle de cette jolie place de Torcy. The food was superb and the ambiance of the restaurant was just perfect. The host was extremely welcoming and very kind. The food was also very inexpensive for such fancy authentic Vietnamese food. I strongly recommend this place. I know I will be coming back...
