OK, not a bad attempt, though some of the dishes are lacking serious ‘seasoning’ and don’t tell that to Helene Darroze she will be fuming.
Very local slow service, though it seems that it may be linked to the summer times, guess what we’re in France ‘apres tout’.
In the plates, it is difficult to not try to match RIP Russell Norman’s insane contribution to the UK discovery in the 2010’s of pure ‘Vénétie’ and back in time in London, it was the world reference. Here we’re in the more ‘rustic’ version.
even though the idea is there, feeling that, especially that the prices aren't that low, but that’s the way the local area is gentrifying, so can’t blame that, but so you expect perfection consequently.
The classical ‘sardèe in saór’ , the most iconic dish, is expected to be amazing, what a failure when the dish itself isn’t nice, but when the ‘pan fried’ polenta base is big time with no salt! #seasoning
Good points, maybe on the ‘polpette’ with Tuna and harissa mayo, and also that Tramezzini. That's to say.
on the two mains courses we tried, and it was ok. The Polpo was tasty, but same, no salt though quite expensive. Interestingly, both courses lacked that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that lift the dish to unexpected contrast that will make it remember like butterfly sardines with lemon curd vinaigrette, that is a contrast to remember.
I think the place is still calibrating, doing a soft warm up, and maybe will get to our ‘feu’ Polpo level, will see.
In any case, this is the place you need to come over with big tables so you can try as many little plates, as this is almost supposed to be a ‘tapas’ concept…. try and share.
Allez, see...

We got our table and were then left waiting for about 20 minutes before we could even order drinks (and the restaurant wasn’t even half full!). When the bottle of wine arrived, it had already been opened beforehand, not at the table. We also weren’t offered a chance to taste it first.
The starters were delicious. The main course – the pasta – was way too hard (and that’s coming from two people who love al dente). One plate was taken away as soon as one person finished, even though the other was still eating – they almost took that plate too!
The tiramisu was very tasty! When we asked for the bill, we were ignored for a long time again – only when we stood up were we noticed. When we didn’t leave a tip, the service became extremely rude.
No, thank you! We wouldn’t come back! One young waiter did his job with real passion – the others could learn something from him. But overall, a...
Read moreOsteria Goto is really an exception in the Parisian panorama of Italian restaurants. Most Italian places in Paris adapt to french taste, often losing their identity. Not Goto. Francesco, the owner, welcomes you with the biggest smile making you feel immediately at home (to the point that makes you wonder if you are still in Paris). The food is very very Italian, wonderful if like me you miss home. Regional recipes from Venice, focused mainly on fish with sone vegan options. The gilda was a variation on the original with the introduction of a piece of octopus that makes you wonder how nobody thought about it before. Sarde in saor, mozzarella in carrozza, melanzane in scapece. All very italian, very tasty, very homemade. And the selection of natural wines shows a knowledge that goes beyond the trendy hype we all saw in the past years. Last but not least, the tiramisu is the best I had in...
