PNY Marais is not only an overly hip burger shop, the food is also actually pretty good. If you like tasty burgers, PNY is the place you are looking for.
During my recent visit to Paris, I also wanted to find out if the current quality burger trend is as strong in Paris as in London. And I quickly noticed that trendy burger joints have definitely arrived in the French capital.
Because I was in the area, I went to PNY Marais. The interior is modern and I think designed really beautifully.
The menu is short and focuses on what this place is about: burgers. When I ordered the Morning California burger with French fries, the waiter suggested it bloody - typically French, I would say. I opted for medium instead.
It was a little bit unfortunate that the patty fell apart as soon as I touched it, but on the plus side, the burger tasted absolutely delicious. The cheese was melted and added a nice taste, the bacon was good and the sauce was great. And the skin-on French fries were also as good as potatoes can get.
Hands-down, this burger easily beats most of the quality burgers I have had in London. I think it might partly be down to the meat and the other ingredients.
The wine list is short, butafter a quick chat with my waiter, I decided to go for the Gaillard white wine. At first I was not the biggest fan, but a few sips in, I quite liked the subtle mineral notes.
I had to take a little break, before continuing with the dessert. The cheesecake was fine, but nothing exceptional. To finish off, I decided to get a coffee, but I was a bit disappointed by the thin espresso, I had expected better when I read the collaborate with the local coffee icon Coutume.
Throughout my dinner, the service was very friendly and I was lucky that I only had to wait for a short while - it looked like this place gets pretty busy regularly. Anyway, in my opinion, the PNY burgers are well...
Read moreI will not be able to talk about the food quality because I was definitely not welcome here . One Thursday around 2:15pm I've decided to go there for a burger I was expecting a friend of mine to join me . I was with my bags of my shopping food made earlier in rue de Bretagne . I opened the door and a waiter was there . First he made me feel very uncomfortable by looking at me from head to toe with all my shopping bags , not friendly at all . I asked if I could eat . He then said yes sure , here you have a table and pointed me one behind the door a very tiny one . Because the place was empty I asked if I could preferably sit on the 2 bigger tables near the big window . With a rude attitude he replied " Ah Non , this is for group only !!! ! I've replied ; " but are you expecting a group ? "He replied, "maybe! Remember that it was nearly 2:30pm and that they were going to close at 3pm! I looked at him and reply , "Oh I see , then Goodbye and good luck with your group ! " This is a typical place where costumer service is unreliable , a trendy bohemian place without any sense of welcome and lack of customer service ! I speak from my experience here , not to be rude for nothing but to awaken the conscience of some restaurant owners who think only of their money to the detriment of their customers! Making a customer feel unimportant is unforgivable. So my simple advice to you is ; To succeed at customer service, you need to make every customer feel...
Read moreSo far one of the best burger I’ve had in Paris but I cannot give more than 3.5/5 overall because the food was very oily compared to concurrence. I agree that the patty was delicious and the buns fluffy. Overall it was a great experience but we didn't expect the food to be so oily. Also, we tood the loaded fries which was very salty and oily. We didn’t get so excited about the combination which was overwhelming. The extra cheese and smoked bacon was just too much for us (too heavy and salty). For the perfect burger experience, the food should be less oily. Also, the fried chicken was not well fried and a bit soggy which was not fun to eat. The lemonade was amazing, perfectly balanced. The ambiance and service was great and the spot was very cozy and intimate.
Overall, I still recommend the place but for the burger experience I have mixed feelings since some of us had a good time and some of us didn't. It was not an unanimous WIN experience.
Maybe next time we will have a better experience. Maybe the cook put too much oil or butter.
One thing I am sure is that everything was very good quality and after a burger, fries and lemonade, you will be very full. This is heavy lol.
Average price for burgers is 13.5€, loaded fries was 6.5€ and lemonade was 4.5€
Hopefully, I will have the chance to try it again but I have so many other restaurants to try, not sure how I...
